Regarding the “Lightning In A Bottle” crap, well it is a Head Coaches job to build a staff, recruit his players, and win games. Orgeron has done all of these requirements. A15-0 National Championship Team which will rank as one of the all time great teams was recruited and so was the staff that made it happen. Without Orgeron NONE of it would have happened
you could say the same about Gene Chizik.

Ed has had multiple top 10 teams and is the only SEC coach to go 15-0

And that ranking is P5 only... He would be even lower if it included G5 teams...

No. You can say it but the comparison to Ed Orgeron is a poor one.

I do not care what Orgeron’s record was at Ole Miss because Ole Miss is a toilet of a program. Ole Miss has never been to Atlanta and other than A&M who has only been in the SEC for 9 or 10 years Ole Miss is the only SEC West program to have never done it. Ole Miss last won an SEC Title in Football in 1963. They still made Packards & Studebakers back then.

Ed Orgeron has a record of 45-14 (a 76.2% winning percentage) at LSU and I don’t care what happened at Ole Miss. Orgeron has an SEC Title and a National Title in just 3 1/2 years as Head Coach at LSU. Bitch all you want but Orgeron is doing a good job and recruiting very well. Oh and screw CBS.

To be fair, Jimbo also won a Championship.....at FSU. He is also 2-1 versus Orgeron.

These lists always have a distinct recency bias to them in a way.

We just had a terrible season, shouldnt be surprising O is not inside the top 10 out of 130 coaches. He needs to prove he get us back to winning ways and not make blunder hires like Pelini. Also doesnt help him he tends to overshare info to make him look not exactly intelligent like "oh we didnt even interview Pelini".

O can get us back to winning again, no doubt in my mind, 15-0 in 2019 says that. Just a matter of righting the ship and not giving a shite what some top coach list after our worst season in decades says.

O has to show he still has it this year.

Really there only two or three elite coaches and the rest of the next 10 you could randomly order.

O’s overall final ranking average at LSU is 18. He’s up and down in winning percentage. A poor X’s and O’s coach. A poor evaluator of assistant coaching talent. An excellent recruiter. Let’s find out if he caught lightening in a bottle or if he can duplicate that success again. Many factors point to that being difficult for him to do.

He obviously can't coach either side of the ball and our performance is entirely dependent on coordinators.

this line of thinking is so fricking dumb. For one it is retarded to think a guy who has played and coached a game all his life doesn't know enough about both sides of the ball to coach them. His job as a HC is to recruit and hire coaches that run the styles of offense and defense he feels will have the most success.

If you compare Jimbo and O's HC record at universities that put a premium on fb (not OM early 2000s) they both win at a 76% clip...and O has had to face a dynasty every year...Jimbo only the last 3 yrs.

Well that’s been a challenge.

And this is just weird. It actually destroys your argument. Jimbo has won a NC at a school that “doesn’t put a premium on football”. That’s what really good coaches do. O tanked at a school that -following your line of thinking- isn’t really a FB school. Except for the fact OM has won with other coaches. And you’re ignoring the head to head. Jimbo leads 2-1.

Yep and the same ones who get pissed off when you try to talk reality about TJ Finley. Reality doesn’t matter to these people. The reactions are predictable and make no sense.
