Thats a huge assumption that you, some fan on a message board, know what coach Kelly is thinking.

Didn’t BK bail on his team with something to still play for?

If you apply that logic to Nick Saban, he offered his whole staff from Michigan State and not one came to LSU. So was the staff that won the Natty in 2003 inferior? I think NOT!

The "vision" is to hire good/great assistants, not hire specific people. That's a really stupid way to view this. There are other really good coordinators out there. He will be judged on who he DOES hire, not who he DOESN'T.

Technically he’s down to his 3rd choice of OC because Sean Payton isn’t coming

If serious you are dumb as hell.
As one poster explained above me, both had valid reasons to stay.

Umm no they didn’t decline ! Marcus freeman told him he was coming with him told him yes then he got mentioned to becoming the head coach for ND

Leave the dang guy alone he will build some thing special he has won everywhere he’s been ! Let him take his time and find the coaches he wants teams are preparing for playoff games and bowl games

I mean go look at his offensive numbers all the years he’s been a play caller. You can’t deny it. He’s put out top 10 offenses or atleast close to it almost religiously even this past year with a bad team.

2nd, even 3rd and further choices are a regular in these things. The bigger concern with the lack of hires is that it seems recruiting has played no part of the process. We have let a damn good instate class make a mass exodus to in division rivals and the lack of coordinators couldn't have helped those late pushes. Jimmy's and Joe's still rule the roost in CF and it's a little concerning even with the difficult transition. Hes got to finish strong in Feb and the portal or these decisions on hires will be questioned in terms of time taken.

I wouldn’t want Mullen anywhere near the program, he’s a cancer.

I would equate Mullen in recruiting a little similar to Joe Brady. They both just want to scheme and coach up talented kids on offense. They lack the self starter attitude that it takes in recruiting and everything else a program faces to be a head coach.

Mullen as an OC could make it to the gate on time for a flight to a meeting with a recruit that Frank or someone else set up. BK could make him. Keep him calling plays and away from the mic and i'm good with him as OC.

Could he and BK both be in the QB room everyday? That probably will kill any potential deal.
