Yet, so does the defense lately, and Aranda is not overrated. So I don't know.
So if Canada and Aranda have been successful coaches prior to this year, (Aranda already proving he can coach well in the SEC) there's really only one other major coaching change in the last year. I think that change has been the biggest detriment to the team. Not Canada although he may not be helping. I just can't tell if he sucks at this level of football or is getting shat on because of the HC situation.

IMO the short practices is more of a factor than Canada's ability to scheme. The short practices and more meetings should be reserved for veteran teams, not one where you're playing youngsters and installing an entirely new offense. They need reps, reps, reps. That's on the CEO.
Bobby Hebert touched on this after the Saints game. Just because the approach works for Pete Carroll doesn't mean it will work for this team. He said he would straight up tell O that they need to get the pads on and practice "old school".

I'm actually somewhat impressed with Canada. Not spectacular by any means. I like just enough stuff he does to be impressed some.
He is not causing the offense to develop fast enough for my taste. Though I do see improvement. I'm tepid with that until we see more SEC defenses.
I DO see him come back to setups and playcalling does change when defenses adjust. That is indeed improvement over what we're used to. The O isn't helping our D much, but the D is killing the O at the same time. They must improve together for any of it to work... so blaming one and not the other is just disingenuous (or habit).
In order of impact:
- OL is killing us
- WRs make everything hard, and to some degree ruin what Canada is trying to do on many plays.
- D allowing sustained drives
- Canada's playcalling on 3rd downs.

Chip Kelly did ok
Chip Kelly didn't have a say in his offensive staff when he was OC at Oregon?
No. Steve Greatwood was the OL coach, Gary Campbell was the RB coach, and Robin Pflugrad was the WR coach. The first 2 were long time coaches that were just released last year.
It was plug and play for Oregon for every coordinator after Bellotti was promoted. All the way up to Helfrich. When Chip became head coach he made only a couple of changes. D line and WR coach I believe. Eta....and obviously OC.

Canada is the entire problem to this skism lol. The offensive line is confused. It seems every play they they are getting pushed backwards first. Since the two touchdowns were called back in the MSU game this team hasn't been the same offensively.
Start at the major roots, Canada is a shrub

We are averaging 27 points a game, what was the expectation 40 plus?
Cool....without looking at stats, have you been happy with what you've seen the last 2 weeks?
Not sure about you but last night was awful. I'm super happy we scored 21 though

Well, yea, that's the implication. I just can't understand how a meddling HC can have such a detrimental impact on the entire team. I mean it's still the coordinators side of the ball at the end of the day, right? And they are good enough and confident enough to still have a competent game plan even under those circumstances. I believe they'd both be better under literally any other head coach, but is still put a small percent of blame on them.

Definitely agree with you there. Not saying they are blameless. Just saying that an HC's ability to understand one or both sides of the ball from a bird's eye view i.e. coordinator look has a huge impact on the coordinators. One example (don't know if this is happening or not) let's say Canada and O are arguing about when to play Brennan vs Etling. If O doesn't understand the offense well enough and makes the final call that makes the offense look bad but is not the fault of Canada. Let's say all the plsyers want Brennan in too, but O won't let Canada name him the starter for whatever reason. Then the whole team could give up.
There are many more examples of what could be happening but i have no clue what's going on behind the scenes. I just look at guys like Canada and Aranda and think how did they go from respected coordinators to this in an offseason? My money is it is something that's out of their control. I don't believe O is giving them free reign like he said he would. Just my opinion on it though.

Players should play to their ability no matter who is in......players should not dictate who plays....
That's the whole problem at LSU....players are staging a mutiny because their guy isn't in the game...
