Canada agreed to part ways with the program for about half of the $3.3 million he was owed. He’ll receive roughly $1.7 million in buyout money,

Huh.

What leverage did LSU have then?

That's right. Otherwise, Canada would have just said to give him his guaranteed money. Something indeed must have happened.

But why in the hell did Coach O hire an offensive coordinator with whom he could not work? Is he that bad in judging the coaching ability of his assistants?

O was about to lose both incoming QBs. He had to make an OC hire before signing day. Canada being a Broyles finalist helped to keep them on board.

I can't wait until a tell all book comes along to chronicle the behind closed doors buffoonery that is The LSU athletic department.

I actually think this number makes a lot of sense for a mutual parting of ways. LSU pays it because if they don’t, they risk Canada sitting on his arse for two years and having to pay out 3 million. Canada takes it because if he doesn’t, he’s working “for free” if he takes a job in the next two years. Now he has at least a chance to make MORE than 3 million over the next couple years, he just has to beat $650k per year.

I see we’ve gone from finding the “best” offensive coordinator to finding one with “experience.”

Canada, once again, only last one year at his job.

...folks, there is something there.

Think sometimes before you speak. Why rush this and make this another John Chavis situation? Shows me they learned from that mistake and are trying to do it right. Sad that you wake up having hate on your chest but that's your life, which to me is pretty sad

What exactly did our administration do that was bad?

Did they leak the news Canada was gone?

Did they lie about him staying jr leaving?

Coaches are fired every year...why is it only LSU looks bad when doing so?

Both sides were negotiating terms of buyout

What does him being fired have to do with anything. I believe you were one of those stating we would pay 3 mil if he was fired...why didn’t he get the full buyout?

It won't be anywhere near as interesting as the rant's version.

O gives you nuggets of info at times. Short and sweet. Canada did neither of these things well enough.
