Who are the projected starting LBs outside of White? I assume Chiasson and probably Phillips but who's leading for the last spot?

Because Delpit plays in the secondary.

Yep. For some reason people don't get that secondary includes safety and we are deep and talented there. We can't even get the #1 safety (Stevens) on the field because we have so much talent.

As for the other CB spots Joseph and Vincent were both high 4 star players so talent is not as much of an issue as experience and depth. But, there is no escaping the fact that we have more question marks at starting CBs and nickel CB than we've had in a while. I'm not sure we've decided yet who will be opposite Greedy.

Everything looks great on paper, but we will not know until they begin playing. That said, with the addition of Joe Burrow, I am looking forward to football at LSU for the first time in years.

Not sure why this got many downvotes because it’s true.

You have to be a greedy fan base( no pun intended) to feel like you need muiltple superstars in the secondary. They guys we have are capable

Freshmen all American is a step away from superstar BUT I also Really like a Delpit and I think He will be a superstar next year.

I think we should be ok with Greedy Vincent Alexander and Joseph at CB. I don’t live a scenario where greedy misses and significant stretch. That would be bad. We really need our top 3 to stay healthy.

Michael Divinity, and I think he’ll be good. Physical and fast with good coverage instincts for a LB. I think he’ll step into Corey Thompson’s role well

Fall camp is going to be really interesting to see who gets the starting spots in the front 7.

We have a ton of talent on the roster, and a lot of freshmen coming in.

I’ve been surprised that Divinity hasn’t done more. Hopefully this is his breakout year.

Do people just forget he was the dline coach and recruiting coordinator?

He was specifically brought in by Les to do just that and not finish 2nd to big time players like we did under brick.

Are you stupid or something?

There is a clear difference in ED O as the head coach making recruiting decisions and the ED O as the recruiting coordinator where Les Miles made the final decisions.

People that want to blame O for the lack of depth really need to examine the situation more closely. As soon as Ed took over, he made the lines a priority... meaning that he was diverting from the path established by Miles.

Had the path stayed the same, you could easily pin this on O. But, there is a very clear delineation between what was happening then, and what is happening now.

It has been a long, long time since we have had this good of depth on the lines and LB.

I think most would agree with this. If we have to rely on Kirklin (converted QB) and Netherly (converted WR) to man a CB spot I will be concerned. It worked for Mo Claiborne, but I think he was a special case.

Alexander is the key to that group
He needs to step up in his NFL year and live up to the hype

Solid group for sure. Just need a dynamic playmaker like tyrann to flip field position when our offense gets bogged down.

Divinity just had a kid so hopefully the light switch has come on for him.

Kary Vincent will start opposite Greedy.

Netherly has looked really good by all accounts.

Won't beat our 2016 defense... Jamal Adams, Duke Riley, Beckwith, Tre White, Prime Arden Key, Gaudchaux.... do i need to list the entire defense or do you get the point?

Riley/Beckwith - 182 tckls, 2.5 sacks, 15 TFLs
Devin White - 133 tckls, 4.5 sacks, 13.5 TFL (Alexander, Phillips and Taylor all shared time next to White) - Likely Phillips starts and combine with White to be as good or better than the previous two

Trey White - 35 tckls, 2 INTs, 14 PD
Greedy - 38 Tckls, 6 INTs, 10 PD

Adams - 76 tckls, 7.5 TFL, 1 sack, 1 INT
Delpit (2017 FR) 60 Tckls, 3.5 TFL, 0 sacks, 1 INT (similar to Adam's FR YR)

Key in his prime will be very difficult to match and Chaisson was only a part time starter last season so we don't know. He looked really good in the spring.

Unfortunately Lawrence and Alexander were limited with injuries so they missed games and had limited snaps. If 100%, they along with Fehoko are going to be very good. Neal and Godchaux had a great 2016 season, but we have great depth this year along with solid starters and will be a very solid front.

It will. Much better DL overall and a more complete LB corps. Secondary is comparable.
