The trick to these situations is to not open the threads in which you have no interest.

It goes for either one, Kade or Anthony. If you dont pitch them the first 2 games, 1 of them will be going on Sunday, no?

Furthermore, if for some reason we were to go the Noot/ Shores route Friday and happen to lose the first 2, this place would absolutely CRUCIFY JJ for ending the season with one of his best arms unused.

Tell me im wrong....

You're wrong. The best situation when you're playing like the 230th ranked team, then likely the team with 14th highest CWS title odds, higher than a handful of 1 seed CWS title odds, the very highest 2 seed CWS title odds, is that you pitch your better ones 2nd and 3rd game, and not 1st.

In the 0.1% chance lose game 1, I'd still stand behind JJ because:

230th best team in CB
vs
14th best team in CB

LSU drew one of the worst regionals, if not the worst, in my opinion. 6th seed should play 27th best team, not 14th. 33-6=27.

So you don’t think this place would lose its shite and call for Jays head if for some ungodly reason we went 2&Q with one of our aces never seeing the field? You think that would be an ok situation?

I just think thats harder to justify and I would be pissed.

And there'd be the crowd like me that'd call him a dumbass when we beat UALR by a 10 run rule, and then lose to DBU 7-4 and Anderson is on the bench.

That would just mean we have dumb fans with zero foresight. The odds of losing in my opinion to a UALR is maybe 2%. Odds of losing to DBU is 30-35%. They have the best odds to win CWS amongst any 2 seed, and have better odds than a lot of 1 seeds.

So, you pitch your best pitchers against the best teams.

I get your logic and its a solid debate, but with so much foresight into games that you arent assured of, Im sure you have thought of the posibility (without knowing the scheule) of having to throw at least one of your aces on short rest for the super against a team that would have much higher odds at that point of making a run in Omaha. They have proven that they arent quite as sharp on short weeks and I dont like the idea of willingly bringing that scenario into play.

Just like you say that saving the better arms against the better opponents gives you the best chance to beat them, any coach will tell you (Jay and Skip have both said this) that its exponentially easier if you get in the winners bracket and STAY in the winners bracket and let the other teams burn their arms fighting it out.

And Im curious, what were your odds of being run ruled by Northwestern State (a team that didn’t even make the tournament) with Noot starting? This sport has a funny way of punishing the ones that tempt the baseball gods.

When Jay pitched Paul Skenes in the first regional game in 2023 that should have let all the fans know exactly how he is planning to attack tournaments during his tenure.

I get both sides of the argument but to me- proper rest is fhe most important snd if you have to start moving around your starting pitchers in the regional to advance - you were never going to win it all anyways

You’re the fan I’m referencing in my thread, you don’t even know LSU has pitched off in game 1 more times than not before Jay

Jay can do what he wants he’s earned that right, but you should probably know wtf you’re talking about

Except there are numerous examples of teams moving pitchers around and winning it all.

Regional baseball wasn’t invented in 2023.
