I personally don’t think Guidry pitches at all this year at this point. Idk why Jay just doesn’t come out and say it

There is no reason to say it. LSU has 40 people on the roster. If Jay came out tomorrow and said Guidry and Sheerin are 100% done for the year, LSU doesn't suddenly get more roster spots.

It's not like Jay is starting his presser each week with "Hey guys, great to be here. Looking like Gavin will pitch this weekend."

He only mentions him if asked about him directly. There is no need to "come out and say" anything.

You’re 100% right. They don’t gain anything by saying he’s out for the year, so if there’s even a slight possibility of him returning, they are going to say that. Jay probably should have just said “Gavin is out indefinitely. No time table for his return. I will let y’all know when we have an update.” instead of giving dates though.

What’s the rule?
You can play in approx 17 games and keep redshirt status due to injury.
If he plays at all it will be towards the end

Well at least now there is smoke.... w Guidry status being more on the front page and Johnson saying that he thought he might be ready for the Auburn series. Here's hoping to NEXT week for a Gavin Guidry sighting!

If you would have read my post i even stated he will not have a single incision. i said it was minimally invasive procedures. He clearly not getting cut on the night before they travel. I thought you would be able to come to that conclusion all by yourself. I think anyone that played sports was pretty sure they knew what i was talking about thats been injured during a season.

So what made you think he having back surgery then travel the following day and then possibly pitch after going under the knife. Since you are struggling to understand what i said, he was getting an injection very similar to an epidural and at least one injection possibly another one that put very strong medicine that would coat his discs. So he had two possibly three injections. One was more of an epidural. i really hope that helped you understand a little better. Did you honestly think he was having surgery the night before he traveled with a chance he could pitch 2 days after back surgery? Also it was last night. I dont know how to feel that you actually typed that

The treatments you're describing will not fix his herniated disc and will actually only reduce inflammation and potentially mask the pain. Without those pain signals there is a chance he makes it worse if he were to go right back to pitching.

I believe those injections do have value. Some people are in too much pain to sleep and the relief period that you get from those injections may allow your body to get some much needed sleep in order to heal itself. Additionaly it can provide a window to do more intense forms of physical therapy without aggravating your nerves. I see the injections as a means to allow other forms of treatment to do their work. If hes just getting these injections and going right back to max effort pitching then I would be concerned about his future. It's one thing for pain tolerance injuries that cant get worse, but I can't imagine that's their plan for a back injury.

I appreciate you sharing what you know with us, but I hope you're missing some key information

This thread probably needs to disappear.

Someone, who is at least pretending (not saying he is or isn't) to give out information that is borderline crossing a line.

The usual idiots making up their own narratives.

It's soon going to get further out of control, and we will have new group thinks take place and start further rumors.

I also doubt that JJ, Guidry, or his family, wants the information that poster is sharing out there anyway. If it happens to be be truthful.

Yea, I was feeling the same way.

I can tell you for a fact they don't want all these details to be public or else they would be. There is a difference between telling your buddy at work the scoop, rather then blasting it on one of the most polarizing rumor mills to date, TD.

Guidry gave up 0 ER in his last 10 appearances on the mound last season. During the fall scrimmages last year he gave up 0 ER as well. That's 0 ER allowed over 23 IP between the end of last season and fall scrimmages.

At this point, due to the injury, this really doesn't mean anything. We just have to see what he can do if he can come back.

If we get the Guidry of last year (and prior), we get a guy that can be effective in leverage situations, but probably gives you less than 2 innings per weekend. For this team, that would be a huge benefit.

If we get a Guidry that has developed into a guy that has a better pitch mix and could give 3-4 innings of effectiveness, I think it would make this team instantly a contender (given we would now have 3 of these guys in the pen).

Unfortunately, due to the injury, I suspect the most likely scenario is that Guidry either can't make it back...or when he does make it back won't be as effective as we've seen in the past.

But, nobody knows. The guy in here who knows him and his father doesn't know. The negative people in this thread don't know. The optimistic don't know.
