If thats the case, hate to say it, but he really screwed himself probably not taking that. I highly doubt this year (or next if he redshirts and comes back) he'll be seeing close to that with his injury history and kind of general lack of playing time.
i agree, but I also understand why he passed it up. Its hard to put a number on being able to play college baseball at a place like LSU
btw he talked about this on Mik'd up podcast back then. should be able to find it. I remember him talking about his dad waffling and wanting him to take the offer but Gavin held firm on 2.9.

I mean I love LSU but $2.3M is probably a good number to say, I need to start my pro career. Can always go back to college if things dont work out and you have a huge pile of cash (cant play college baseball, but still, get general college experience).
I get some guys bet on themselves and works out bigly (Dylan Crews for example), but there's probably plenty more in Guidry's shoes to not just pass up $1M but over $2M in his case and find themselves in much worse spot next draft time. I can kind of see passing up $1M to come play here, but $2M+ you're starting to get into "why, dont take the risk" range. You're basically thinking you'll get 1st round money again in 2-3 years.
Will be interesting to follow more of these guys like Schmidt, Curiel, Arrambide (Evans?) who obviously passed up sizable bonus offers to come here. Obviously for us, it's way better if these guys work out and get $2M+ bonuses down the road after playing here.
I liked the story Evans talked about being roommates here with Kale Fountain last summer and he found out Kale was leaving and had like an hour to get his stuff out because he ended up drafted and ultimately signing for $1.7M which was pretty huge and hard to blame him for reversing course some.

Nah. SS’s will play SS

I just don't get it. He's hurt, but wants to move on so he can play both ways. Maybe also inferring that he wants to be a starting pitcher and starting SS. I don't know that even Delgado would sign up for that, especially with damaged goods.

Kind of agree with Lester here but the 34 man limit is going to bring some silly stuff to the table here and there. Especially if this is a 34 hard cap including guys redshirting or medically out.
I dont know why they felt the need to go 1 less than before and again drop from 40 to 34 in literally 1 year. Just going to be so many kids losing out quickly.

in 99%+ of cases sure....just saying at only 34 rostered....gonna have to have a couple 2 way guys that can eat some innings. Wont be many that are SS though, you are right about that.

The level of attention he's getting is insane even if he was completely healthy he may not crack the middle of the bullpen. We brought in arguably the best transfer in pitching class in the country. I wish all the best but this kid was never going to make it to the MLB - with a 93mph for and curve - come on people.

Well its starting to be a distraction and this is a team that can make a run so............
Best of luck young man, to your parents and your crew.

Again this type of stuff is so tone deaf.
Guidry was our best reliever last year outside of Herring. We have literally 2 reliable arms out of the pen at the moment. He would obviously be a big boost if he was healthy and able to pitch to this bullpen. Who cares about the transfer class ranking when literally 2 guys are able to pitch out of it and 1 of them is a starter, not pen guy.
Guidry was dominant at the end of last season:
10 appearances, 12.2 IP, 4 H (no XBH), 19 K, 0 ER
And in the fall he was arguably the best pitcher in terms of effectiveness (gave up 0 ER, in 10+ IP) so much so he was getting talked up as a potential starter going into spring. He would absolutely be a valuable piece to this pitching staff right now that is very short on reliable pieces.

These guys are tougher to quantify because you have to offset any NIL earnings

Injuries are not distractions

I miss spoke last night. Gavin has said he wants to pitch because hitting is way to hard. He loves LSU and I don’t see him leaving LSU for any reason.
Even though he had a couple nice NIL deals. But he’s not leaving, I just hope what they did last night isn’t just a quick fix for the season and doesn’t cause long term problems or it to continue to linger around

How many walks again ? In limited action ? Just stop Mr. Guidry - you also haven't pitched in a long time and you may never recover. You keep throwing out past stats they're no indication of future success.

I’m not sure what they did but quick fixes rarely ever work long term

i said as much as i could last night in i think this thread. The had to get the meds approved by the SEC offices which they did with a lot of discussion. Both meds were really close to being on the banned list

And you'll be lucky to get $50 and a pastrami on rye after this year to join with the Minnasota Slithering Salamanders of the Mountain West Wooden bag league.

You are so full of shite. You've been flip flopping and spewing out bullshite in this thread for the past few days. I don't think you have a clue what you're talking about. Or Guidry's family saw your posts and told you to shut the frick up.

I agree, joking aside why don't we start talking about the pitchers that are actually playing? Wish the best and move on -
