This team can’t even print the tickets for the NIT

ou mean as an at large, they probably need to win 3 more games and maybe a game or 2 in the sec tournament
If LSU were to win 3 more games in the regular season, given who they have to play, then win 2 in the tourney, they would be taking another SEC team's place in the NCAA trny. I'm not saying they do that. In fact, it would be a major surprise, and highly unlikely, but if it worked out the way you say, they are in the big dance. Do they even play a team not ranked the rest of the year?

They are what, 16-13 right now? They would likely need to win 2 more games total to get in the NIT, at most.

Nope
wouldn't expect anything less from a cuck like you. It is a 100% fact that they CAN make the NIT. Hell, it is a 100% fact that they CAN make the NCAA Trny. Will they, is another story. They have a brutal schedule to close the season, but if they picked up 2 more wins, they are most likely, if not definitely, in the NIT. Anything more than that and they get on the bubble for the NCAA, coming out of this league. I know you are pulling against that, because that's the pety little beta that you are....but yes, they still COULD. Will they? Probably not.

You're normally completely full of prune juice, but this post you're spot on.
If LSU wins those games in that scenario you laid out, I think we'd be in the NCAAs.
There is NO WAY IN HELL we win those games with this team and coaching staff, however.

They could not make the women's tourney....

quote:interesting. So if the SEC had 13 tourney teams LSU would get an NIT autobid since we’d at least finish ahead of South Carolina
2025 NIT, which include bids going to 16 “exempt” teams, as well as others that may qualify automatically as regular-season conference champions. Exempt teams will include the top two teams not selected to the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship from both the Atlantic Coast Conference and Southeastern Conference.

That's the way it sounds to me. Evidently you dont have to be .500 anymore?

If 13 SEC teams make the NCAA tournament then LSU should be in. The NIT takes the Top 2 non-Tournament SEC teams.
If only 12 SEC teams make it then LSU is out. OU and UGA in.
I was wrong about the NET. They use the average of a bunch or rankings; including BPI, KPI, NET, KenPom, SOR, Torvik and WAB rankings

NIT is always better than nothing.
No it isn't. It's a consolation prize no one cares about. As evidenced by the fact many teams decline bids (it's entirely possible the only reason LSU made the NIT last year is because Ole Miss declined their bid), and further evidenced by the fact LSU had approximately 2,000 people attend last year's NIT game.

I agree with you completely, but I do not believe there were that many people there.

The official attendance was ~2,200. Given everyone who wanted to attend had to purchase a ticket after it was announced LSU was in the field, this was probably one of the few instances where paid attendance closely matched the actual attendance (give or take a few hundred)

14-12
But I agree, IF LSU were able to win two more games to put their overall record at 16-15, that would likely be enough to sneak them in. Most likely as an auto bid. Getting in as an at-large might be a little more dicey if LSU were to lose in the first round of the SEC tournament because that would put their overall record at 16-16. Only one team, Xavier, had a .500 or worse record and still received an at-large bid last season.

If they win 2 more games

In addition all our remaining opponents are ranked and have high Kenpoms. If we somehow steal two wins from that elite fleet we're making the NIT.

Most of y'all so-called Tiger fans are getting more pathetic as the years go by. A trip to the NIT is not a consolation prize. It's more game time tournament experience for your returning players next year, and something for them to look forward to for next season.
I must be getting old because I pull for the best case scenario for the Tigers every year. This year's team is obviously not making the final four of the NCAA, but if they make a run in the NIT, it would be something to brag about for next year. Some of y'all need to understand that the General isn't walking through the Maravich Center door unless he is coaching the Other team.
How about trying to be a fan of the Tigers instead of hoping they don't finish the year on a positive note. Being a fan is about pulling for your team win or lose, not just when they are winning (bandwagon).

Yes, the PMAC was electric at last year's NIT. You could feel the energy from the Tiger fans.
Are you a fan if you are wanting a change in HC so this waste of time can come to an end? A change that would allow the "so-called Tiger fans" to not be relegated to pretending the NIT is a great accomplish...or even an accomplishment at all. You can be happy for the players if they win, but still wish for what is best for the program.
The news coming out that LSU apparently is going to stick with McMahon for another year is discouraging, to say the least. LSU has been the worst program in the SEC over the last three years (and that includes a couple of years where at least one program didn't win a single SEC game). Signing up for a 4th year is not particularly exciting. You want fans to be excited/optimistic? Given them a reason to be.

1. The NCAA will take 12 or less SEC teams into the TY this year. This idea that the SEC will get 13-14 teams into the Ty is not accurate no matter what Lunardi says today. Too many tough SEC games are left for SEC teams.
2. Teams like Vandy, Arkie, Oklahoma are NOT gonna make the TY (along with LSU and Carolina). With 6 games remaining, the chances that Vandy, OU, and Arkie will win enough games to get into the Ty are slim, IMO.
3. The NIT will have to take teams 12-13 or teams 13-14 to host first round games. LSU with 6 TOUGH games left will not finish any higher than 15.

If it means you hope the teams loses, then no, you are not a fan.
What if MM makes a run in the NIT this year, and then gets his best player back next year along with some freshman that may an impact. Are you giving up on MM then if they start the season at 0.500 or better in the SEC. Give the guy a chance with a full healthy roster. Do we really want to buy out another LSU coach.
For God's sake, we were within 6 pts. of Auburn with about 8 minutes to go.
