agreed
there will be a whole lot of very pissed off people in LA if Nuss has to sit out the entire off season nursing an ACL knee injury/operation and not be at full strength come opening day against Clemson, and maybe even half the season. No offseason work with new receivers.
Nothing to gain playing Nuss in this bowl game and literally everything to lose. I hope he comes up with a 'tweaked' ankle injury just prior to the game myself.

His main job is to accumulate the talent, and I am satisfied with the way things are going so far in this off season. Coaching was not the main problem last year (most of the time). It was inferior talent at important positions.

They’re posi-tigers. They feast and thrive upon mediocrity. They abhorred the 2019 season and do not claim the man known as Burrow. Their motto is “next year is our year”. They are a cancer and a scourge upon LSU Football. They held us back from having winning seasons. They were born during the McClendon days. They coerced the BOS in getting Stovall hired after the Rein tragedy. They refused to pay Arnsparger to stay, and gave us Archer. They were content to lose to Nebraska in an Orange Bowl and Two Sugars. They had the ear of the BOS to bring us Hallman. They wanted DiNardo to stay because they too were “crazy bout a Ford Truck”. They did their best to run Saban Off to bring us the poster child of status quo Leslie Dumbass Miles. Now their claws are sunk into Brian Kelly. They are the facilitators of mediocrity.

No one would defend a 6-6 2025 season unless Nuss went down. Thinking Kelly shouldn't be fired after winning the west in year 1, winning 10 games and finishing 12th in the country in year 2, and possible 9 wins and top 25 in year 3.

No they won’t. Nobody is spinning any “positive narrative” about this season. There would be ZERO excuse for going 6-6 next year and if he does, he should be fired immediately and I’d bet you 99.9% of the board would agree.
Maybe if Nuss gets injured in the season opener and can’t come back the rest of the season. That MIGHT (and even then it would be pushing it) be an excuse for going 6-6 next year.

quote:The 2022 class had 16 players, and the vast majority left and almost everybody else is off the team. The portal guys for that year gave us a SEC West title year one, and 10 wins in year two, but they are gone too. Been gone.
2025 - #1 portal class, #7 HS recruiting class
2024 - #43 portal class, #7 HS recruiting class
2023 - #4 portal class, #5 HS recruiting class
2022 - #3 portal class, #12 HS recruiting class
The 2023 team is almost non-existent, as 63% of that class has transferred. And of the top 10, only 3 are still here (only 6 of the top 20). Of the remaining players from that class, 80% have done almost nothing. Chester has a year and Stamps has 2 years.
If you want to talk starting vets, guys that have played, like really really played, AT LSU, for AT LEAST A YEAR, this is your list
Offense
Nuss, Durham, Anderson, Hilton, Chester
Defense
Perkins, Whit and West Weeks, McKinley, Breaux, Stamps, Gilbert
You have guys who have touched grass in Mubenga, Adams, Bordelon, Parker, Green, Guillory, Washington, Carpenter, Woodland, and several other defensive freshman, but that is not true 6+ game starting experience. I even hesistated to put guys like West Weeks and Hilton in the top group, but West accumulated enough over two years here and WVU, and Hilton has at least played in many games for 4 years.
Essentially we have 12 truly experienced guys coming back plus portal guys with much starting experience. Guys like Tyree Adams, Mubenga, Green, Guillory, and Woodland (maybe Carpenter) will be relied on heavily, the rest will be for depth.
LSU will need more help with last year's freshman and this year's freshman to fill out the backups AND the starters even.
quote:Oh yeah it's the resident Ed O apologist and Kelly hater. The fact that you are on the recruiting board and in those threads and still saying shite like this proves you just have an agenda against Kelly.

Good thought process, but you cut us short. I would consider more guys as vets than you. Guys like Guillory, Washington,Gilbert, Woodland,Green, Kaleb Jackson, Zavion Thomas should be considered vets now. I don't know snap counts but they have been around and have played in a good number of games. I also think we should consider some of the incoming portal guys as vets, even though they gained their experience elsewhere.
I like your post and think it deserves consideration and discussion. Not trying to bash you with my take. Your post would make for a good thread for discussion.

Nearly all of the excuses you're giving are on Kelly
he doesn't get a pass because he doesn't evaluate, retain, and develop players from his recruiting/portal classes well.
The point of the OP is that the talent level is there and that's no longer an excuse, which it's not. If there's issues with talent development or evaluation, again that falls on Kelly and the assistants he hired.
If he can't rebuild a playoff competitive roster in four full recruiting cycles of HS & portal, it's never going to happen. There are schools with much less resources and history that are in the playoffs this year.

This post should be anchored. I’ll bookmark it.
Idiots on here refuse to acknowledge the issues in college football and limitations it had on LSU starting with the Louisiana law in 2021-2022 on NIL. Then there was the unlimited transfers all happened since 2021. All of this happened when Kelly came to LSU. We FINALLY have a way to funnel money from TAF, which has been an issue with most idiots on here and get points for Traditions fund donations. The small amount people give adds up quick. 120/year by 200000 fans = 24MM. LSU has more fans than that. Donating that directly to football would be an unreal game changer when added to larger donations. That’s 10/month or 1 less visit to Starbucks.

This is a PORTAL AND NIL DAY frickING IDIOT. ALL CAMR ABOUT SINCE 2021 and until this summer LSU wasn’t playing on an equal field with funding from TAF to traditions.

That every coach has to deal with.

And since the donation uptick, we have paid the portal and recruiting players to come in to add talented starter-level players.
Like the OP said, talent is no longer an issue.

One of the bi-products of the portal and the reason Saban retired. None of these kids are going to “pay their dues and wait their turn” are you kidding me, I’m not starting, I’m off to the portal and even some of those that ARE starting are off to the portal to the highest bidder.
