If this team continues to win most/all their games in these last 2 weeks, we should be a 6 seed, minimum. Six would be so much better than 8, or even 7. Am I dreamin"?

Win all regular season games, including Arky and win a couple at SEC Tourney.

If they win out or maybe only lose to Arkansas to finish out the regular season and go on a decent run in the SEC tournament, they could. Other than ugly losses to Bama and playing really crappy against UK, LSU has been competitive in every game and has been playing their best ball over the last three games.

Yes, they could potentially get all the way up to a 4 seed if you win out. We’ve only won the SECt title once so it’s probably an unrealistic expectation but if we finished 20-6 closing out the reg season 3-0 and going 3-0 in the SECt we’d be hot enough for the committee to throw us a 4 seed. That’s where Lunardi has Tennessee slotted now

Yes, but they must win out including a makeup game on Sat March 6 @Mizzou or Fla. Finish 13-4 and 2nd in SEC.

We’ve got at least 4 more regular season games. Everyone is gonna play on that last Saturday before the SECT

Great I like our chances of finishing with a 7 seed or better if we’re adding an extra game against either Mizzou or Florida then.

Hopefully we can go 3-1 in reg season and 2 wins in the SECt and that’d get us off the 8/9 line matched up against a 1 seed in the first weekend.

Absolutely. I actually think the “bracketologist” (Palm and Lunardi) have us undervalued. We are trending up and think we would be a 7 as of today.

Win out regular season and we could get as high as 5. We would be 18-6 with 4-5 Q1 wins depending on where things shake out. More importantly we would have zero losses outside of the top 75. We have a top 20 SoS and a top 50 non conference SoS. This is a lot higher than others in the 5-9 seed range. The SoS is being extremely under valued. I understand that COVID is going to impact the value of this metric some, but it can’t be ignored.

ETA. I don’t think the SEC Tournament happens.

this isn't unobtainable btw. Georgia and Vandy aren't nearly as good as us, we already beat the shite out of Arky once, and then as the 2 seed in the SEC Tourney we'd have some favorable matchups. I don't think we need more than 1 win in the tourney tho. 18-7 may just be enough to get to the 6 line. 19-7 would all but lock it up, 20-6 would put us in as as 3/4 seed.

Correct. I think most major conferences will cancel their tournaments. The concern is one team, one official, etc. could create a contact tracing nightmare that keeps teams from being in the NCAA tournament the next week.

Sure they can, they also they could lose the next game and some Rant Rats would come out wanting the coach fired.

What ever seed they get I want another shot at Texas Tech.

LSU is currently 27 NET and 27 Kenpom

AU/pmac win yesterday was Quad 2
@UGA on Tues will also be a Quad 2 game
@Ark on Sat will be a Quad 1 game
Vandy/pmac next Tues 3/2 will be a Quad 3 game

There's a solid reason LSU wanted to play @Ole Miss this past week. Quad 1 game and missed opportunity.

I imagine SEC will schedule another Quad 1 game prior to SECT. What that will be, I'm not sure anyone knows yet.

To answer OP, I think LSU is a 7 seed right now and playing it's best ball.

If I had to guess, I think LSU finishes in that 6/7 seed range. But if we win out with an added Quad 1 game? I think 5 seed is within range.

Yeah, if they win all regular season games not sure we'd have to win any at all in the SECT if the team we lose to is a Quad 1. Arkansas would be a quality Quad 1 road win. Big if though Arky is playing very well right now.

You only play 1 team at a time. So not really a difference in regular season games.

Not exactly the same. You could have a team advance from Thursday to the finals (like Kentucky or Tenn or Fla). Then on Sunday have a player for that team test positive. You’ve now got to contact trace 3 teams (games from Thursday-Saturday). Could potentially eliminate 4 SEC teams just on contact tracing.

I don’t agree with the decision to cancel, but think that is the ultimate route.

I think the SEC will use that weekend to schedule make up games.

I tend to agree. Also, you have to think the SEC has left a little bit of wiggle room ahead of the SECT for everyone to play a "makeup" game. The reg. season is going to end mid-week this year (usually ends on a Sat.). The SECT won't start until the next Wed. One would think the league could use, at minimum, that Sat. to get in one more game. Plus, with Auburn not participating in the postseason, that will be one less game in the SECT.

Just about every team has at least one game to make up (most having more). While I would prefer to see LSU at Missouri, the Florida v. LSU game seems to be a good fit if the league can/is only going to make up one game. Florida's other postponed game is A&M...who has YET to play a single game in February to date. Needless to say, it's not really worth them playing any real "makeup" games.

I think the league really wants the SECT to happen and not have it canceled two years in a row. However, I could see a scenario where they would cancel in order to avoid travel and all of the teams being in one place, and instead, just playing an extra game or two of the reg season.

Completely agree. If cancelled it will be to avoid potential contact tracing issues. Will be an easier decision if there are no real bubble teams in the SEC. Right now Ole Miss is the only one and their loss Saturday hurt. The SEC could use that week to reschedule additional make up games without the concern of all teams traveling to one place.

I hope they don’t, the basketball conference tournament is one of my favorite events of the year.

As long as we make the tournament, I'm fine with whatever. I feel like this team can beat just about anyone but also lose to anyone.
