He had gone over an inning before this thread was started. That's all that needed to be said. I didn't say he was long relief. Kid has still done great and has great closer stuff. Why is he in in the 7th? PM fricked the bullpen yet again.

No good reason to send him out for the 9th. He worked out of the jam in the 8th, let him leave on a high note and let Bugg close it

I loved how he handled the 8th. Wasn't smooth but bared down.

Meh. Different situation IMO. He labored to get through the 8th and got out of a big jam after going 1.2 innings. I don't think anyone would've questioned pulling him at that point and sending out Bugg. But you're right. Never know around here

But FWIW I think we should have kept Newman in for another inning.
