He may have been mentally nicked.

Its amazing how much LSU program struggles to find a good catcher. I understand they were rated high out of HS but I almost feel like Catcher would be a position you would have to go find in JUCO or portal. Very Very rare for a kid out of HS to make that jump. It s a very hard position and requires experience as well as game smarts.

He's hitting better, but not spectacularly better. Arrambide had a one good and one bad series. Cade hit .385 vs Vandy but was 0-7 with 3 walks vs Oklahoma. Here are their SEC numbers.

Cade Arrambide in 6 games played has a 0.250 BA in 20 ABs (26 PAs) ,5 Hits, 5 runs, 4 RBIs, 5 Walks, 1 HBP, 6 SO, 0.423 OBP, 0.350 SLG, 0.773 OPS

Omar Serna Jr. in 8 games played has a 0.300 BA in 30 ABs (37 PAs) ,9 Hits, 3 runs, 7 RBIs, 4 Walks, 2 HBP, 7 SO, 0.405 OBP, 0.433 SLG, 0.839 OPS

I think he took a ball somewhere (can't recall if it was off the hand, foot, arm, or leg, nor if it was during an at-bat or catching) in game 3 vs Oklahoma and was out of the game shortly after that, I think, and I'm don't think we have seen him since.

I’m really curious how Jay handles this. It’s hard to take Serna out of the lineup with how much better he’s hitting. I know we can move him to DH, but Braun also hit a lot better than Bide has been at DH last weekend.

Serna’s not coming out of the lineup. But he doesn’t have to catch every single inning to stay in the lineup. I think it clearly affected his offense this weekend. He can DH and play 1st, too. Braun will continue to get ABs, especially against RHP.

For sure keep him in the batting order - whatever it takes

Not what I said. He is a better catcher than Bide. Bide is very sloppy behind the plate.

I could see serna catching 2/3 this weekend. Maybe Braun DH those games and Jay makes a call between the two for DH in the Bide C game.

Neither are gifted defensive catchers .
Catchers are sometimes forgiven for their offense, but defense is an absolute necessity .

Bro if you’re disappointed in a true freshman hitting .279 with more RBI’s than strikeouts you may want to find entertainment in something other than baseball.

Don’t be silly. I’ve been disappointed with their defense. I mean there are much better catchers, and you know that. But as I stated, we roll with what we got.

Agree that it is important. But so is hitting. Milazzo is the only strong defensive catcher in past several years. We won the natty without one. Not sure calling it a necessity is accurate. I wish we had 1 now, though.
