BYU is better than you think

They beat Arizona, Mississippi St, and Michigan St last year. Their four losses (to Utah, UCLA, West Virginia, and Boise St) were each by 3 points or less.
They return QB Tanner Mangum, who threw for over 3,000 yards in 2015, and 7 starters on defense.
I am bullish on the Tigers this year, but this is going to be a good game. We might look back at the end of the season and realize BYU is one of the better teams we played all year.

After last years lost to Wisconsin, I'm not taking BYU lightly at all! It will be a dog fight, fact! They will play with discipline and will be very physical.

I met their head coach.
He is an awesome guy and his kids will run through a brick qall for him.

I don't underestimate them at all.
They are precisely the type of team you DON'T want to face before you're hitting on all cylinders.

They have some really good players, but I don't think they can physically play like Wisconsin did with LSU.
Should be a good game.

I remember last year's opener as well. I have learned that I will not invite a house full when playing a top-mid tier cfs school. Last year I was not a good host. It will be a small group for the BYU game.

You have absolutely no clue what you're talking about if you think they are going to be one of the better teams we face this year.
BYU is not going to be good this year. Not saying we clean the floor with them as they will have played a game the week before, but BYU is not that good.

That's great insight. Really game changing stuff there.

Won't have the speed or overall depth of talent. LSU defense will smother them.

It's no gimmie.
We come out flat and make mistakes, we will lose.

I've been saying this for months. BYU is no pushover.

Replacing 6 starters on offense but Mangum was a starter before he got hurt and is very very good! They did lose their all world RB in Williams.
Replacing 5 starters on defense. They return their whole LBer core!

For some reason people see BYU as this helpless little mid-major thats on a level of SMU or something.
They are a team who is always veteran with tons of experience, chock full of 23 and 24 year old starters. Physically, they will have some definite stand out players. They have more than a handful of strong islanders there.
Mangum is also really legit, and will be 24 years old this season. BYU generally doesn't beat themselves, they were +12 in turnover margin last season, and were not far at all from being undefeated. I think it will be a really close game we pull away in the 4th quarter in, something like 31-21 final, and people will be rioting on here with that score being "too close".

Not overly concerned about BYU (but, in full disclosure, I wasn't overly concerned about Wisconsin either). I think we handle them and move on. I just hate these neutral site games.
