Bye Week Topic: Any ideas on who to replace our secondary coach with?

I was bored and digging around on some of the top secondaries and found this guy
Rickey Hunley Jr.
Cornerbacks coach/passing game coordinator for SMU. Coached at Liberty when they're defense was fire and had them ranked in the top 25. Kind of a diamond in the rough

Can we afford to take another chance like this?

I like the chevis Jackson idea but I have also done zero research into it.

What coaching experience?

Our perfect scenario is House hates college and goes back to the NFL or Michigan Statw goes cheap and uncontroversial and hires him as his alma mater. Then we hire a DC with a DB coaching background, because we have a shitshow back there.
If it’s just DB coaches, it has to be coaches plural. Steeples is in over his head, but Kerry Cooks is absolutely incompetent. In this scenario, Chevis is a good name for CB coach, safety coach would need to be someone who can coach and develop, because we have some talent at safety with the true freshman but with those 2 clowns, there has been no coaching for a year.

I didnt realize Chevis was coaching. I just did a little background search and he'd be perfect for the job

yall do know how important Jay Ward, M. Garner and JB Converse were to this secondary. THey are gone and we scrambled to get four DBs from portal....for which all four will not be able to play against alabama.
Kelly did not say this was our year, yet yall are hard after these guys with less talent in the backfield.

Just to pass the last bit of time at work, here's a few names for thought:
- Jim Leonhard (Sr. Defensive Analyst at Illinois): experienced and proven defensive coach who's produced top defenses previously. If LSU wanted him, can't imagine it'd be too difficult to make a better offer than his current employment situation.
- Doug Belk (Associate HC/DC): probably unrealistic to think he'd willingly leave his current higher position for a lower one, but I wouldn't be upset if LSU did convince him to work as our secondary coach.
- Lyle Hemphill (Co-DC/Safeties) OR Ishmael Aristide (Duke Asst. Coach/Cornerbacks: Hemphill is more experienced than Aristide, but Aristide has been labeled as one of the up-and-coming coaches in CFB.
Disclaimer: No idea if these guys would be interested, but wouldn't be upset if LSU interviewed them and put them on the list of potential candidates.

Chevis Jackson is the only correct answer. Checks all the boxes.

It’s Jim Leonhard. Former DB who had excellent defenses at Wisconsin who got a raw deal when they switched coaches last year I think

There's a difference between rebuilding the defense and being one of the worst in the entire country.
Stop acting like things are "going according to plan" and we're right on schedule.

I didn’t say things are going to plan. We went from ward, garner, jbc to Duce, Harris, jk and zy.

Derek Mason is doing color commentary for ESPN. Would he be an acceptable hire for the rant?

I would go after Ron Cooper as DC. He is the guy who built DBU, and isn’t setting the world on fire as head coach at LIU.

The last DC that LSU got from Wisconsin worked out pretty damn well.

I’d like Leonard as DC/Safety coach and Chevis as CB coach.
