He's playing in the NFL right now. How does that timing work out in your mind?

If Saban retires Kelly could get him to coach DB's. I heard he was a good DB coach at one time.

Maybe look into someone from the Kirk Ferentz coaching tree— he consistently puts out fundamentally sound defenses with minimal talent, year after year

Would potentially need to pair with another coach who would be recruiting at a high level in the South

2 years with a coach who has recruited well, with the cards stacked against him the way that they have been. Last year, by most accounts, he did outstanding. Now, this year, with worst players...some of y'all want the guy fired. That would just restart the clock of getting recruits to trust the process and bye in. You need talent to win. Don't give me that "develop" bullshite without the e. He's getting his guys in. Let's give him a chance.

Phil Parker. One of the best DCs in football but he’s not leaving Ferentz.
Off-topic, but is it true Ferentz’s son, the Iowa OC, has it in contract he will be dismissed if the Hawkeye offense doesn’t rank a certain number this year? Their offense is horrific and has been since the son took over OC duties.
