and Big East champions.

That would be an absolutely incredible single season feat.

In order for it to occur, the following needs to happen:

(1) LSU defeats UGA in the SECC (obviously);

(2) Oregon defeats UCLA in the Pac-12 Championship;

(3) WVU defeats USF on Thursday night and Cincinnati defeats UCONN on Saturday.

If the voters wisely avoid a Bama rematch, we would then be in a position to defeat yet another conference champion (Big-12 or ACC). Toppling the SEC East, Pac-12, Big East, and Big-12 champion in a single year would be a peerless accomplishment unrivaled in modern CFB.

Would be nice to face OkieSt and take down the Big12 champ too, rather than the SEC West runner-up.

Ridiculous.

I started a thread about this first, it got no love at all. Guess the rant is a popularity contest.

And to think, by mid January, we will have beaten the SEC West runner up 2x!

The 1949 Tigers beat three conference champions during their 10 game regular season.

Rice - Southwest Conference Champs
North Carolina - Southern Conference Champs

and who can guess the third one?

even more incredible to an old guy like me is that if we beat georgia, LSU will have beaten georgia, tennessee, florida, alabama, auburn, ole miss and arkansas ALL IN THE SAME YEAR. damn sure never happened in my lifetime.

Don't look behind you, but someone is third in the BCS now. Wonder what will happen next week when they are not idle and win their conference?

BCS Standings - November 27, 2011

In other news, Alabama will not be playing next week.
