our offense is kinda terrible

I don't want to make too many excuses but we have played two elite defenses. There's no excuse for the abortion of an offensive against SELU, but our offense was statistically superior to Auburn's on Saturday and most would agree that Auburn has a good offense with an established QB. Great defenses can make good offenses look pedestrian.

Hopefully, LSU's players treat La Tech and the preparation for them with more respect than they did against SELU. It would be nice for us to just absolutely destroy someone the way that other power 5 contenders like Bama and Ohio State do when they play scrubs.

but when you rely on your QB to make a 4th down throw to give you a chance to win, with Jeaux Burreux's completion percentage, we were extremely, and I mean EXTREMELY LUCKY, to pull this out

Go back and watch the game film. Burrow was money all day long on the type of throw he made on that 4th down.

The Southeast game was a mess on many fronts. But, IF the 2 defenses (Miami and Auburn) are as good as we have been told...it seems reasonable that the worst games will be against the best defenses.

I'm sure Stidham would look pretty bad if judged by his games against LSU (for example).

to me that’s kinda what blows my mind.

Our offensive output has remained consistent even when our level competition has varied wildly.

FWIW, Washington managed 398 yards against Auburn, and now they are averaging 515 yds/game.

So LSU putting up 370 on Auburn doesn't seem all that terrible right now.

I really enjoyed the back shoulder throw to Jefferson early in the game. That's how you throw your guy open. It was a perfect throw given the coverage.

If we can get guys outside of Jefferson to step up, we will be on to something special in the passing game. Maybe throw to the TE a time or two . I like what I've seen from JB so far and the offense was very creative this past weekend.

I'm pretty sure the only way Brennan gets in a game this year is if Burreaux gets hurt. He'd better be ready because its going to happen, even if its only for a series or two. If its more than that we'll find out what Brennan is made of. Kid has a quick release, for certain.

LSU also has a beast of a defense that isn’t getting talked about a whole lot.

when you have a great defense and your turnover ratio is in your favor, you don't need 50% completion rate. Doesn't make for a pretty offensive show every week, but it's good enough for wins. I expect that number to improve.

If I remember correctly in 2012, Mett and the offense didn’t start clicking until week 4 or 5.

I mean, Brennan can't be worse than Burreaux's performance resulting in LSU having to rely on a 4th and long to give us just a chance to win. We'll still have the same defense.

You're dead on. Of course his numbers are going to be down a little bit. He's played against two of the best defenses in the nation. His numbers will continue to come up. They could drop a bit against alabama. Going to be a great season.

A few plays looked like he chunked them up looking to draw a flag as they were getting mailed instead of throwing them away.

I'll take that incompletion.. it's a gamble but if he sees it and throws it I trust him

Mettenberger literally started clicking at the start of the second half against Alabama . It's kinda weird how much he instantly seemed to improve

You are exactly correct dguidry. I was saying the same thing earlier today. When Brennan gets his chance, and it is coming, it can’t be any worse than burrow. I think Brennan would be disgusted if his completion rate was 46%. That’s not what got him to this point. With LSU defense and our receivers if we had a qb that could throw 67%+ completion rate no telling how good we might really be .

Well if he keeps the first thing going who cares about the second.
