Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has a smart idea for how to spend all the money from the four-year, $36.1 million guaranteed contract he signed this week.

Or actually how not to spend it.

Burrow said on Friday that he doesn’t intend to spend a single penny of that money he’s making from the Bengals. He’ll live off the money he makes from endorsements and put all the money from his NFL paychecks into savings and investments.

“I don’t plan on spending any contract money,” Burrow said. “I’m just gonna live off the marketing money and let that accrue in my bank account.”

That’s wise. There’s a long list of professional athletes who have made tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of dollars and then gone broke.

What kind of endorsement deals do you see Joe getting? What's his first commercial?

I believe Shaq had a similar approach

He already did some commercials for Nerf, and he will be in the Heisman house commercials for Nissan.

Well he did the Neef House Commercial

But if there is anyone with any kind of brain he’ll do a Nissan Heisman House/Home Alone Commercial.

If that doesn’t happen cancel the whole ad campaign.

In a basic savings account he’d make over 700k a year in interest just for letting it sit there.....must be nice

He will get plenty of endorsements. This way he could play for 5 years then come back to LSU as OC and head coach in waiting.

Rob Gronkowski does this. As crazy he and his family seem to be they are extremely smart with their money.

I like the way PMT put it after he won the Heisman... dude at that point could have quit trying at anything in life and partnered with someone to open up a mediocre burger restaurant in baton rouge where he made an appearance every so often, and still probably made a living better than 90% of people

Nah, it’s time to make a size bigger and name it after Joe. He’s earned it.

Also did a Gatorade product.

Smart move by JB.

And he needs any of his investment gurus to be audited regularly by a major accounting firm. Forensic audits.

Trust but VERIFY.
