"They came out in a defense that we haven’t seen from them all year and we hadn’t seen from anyone else."

So Steele and the Auburn D saved quite a bit for the LSU game it seems. Or they were able to work in a ton of new schemes over the last few weeks.

They had a LBr up on JJ at the LOS to jam up the slants with a CB on him as well. That was why he was semi quiet yesterday. And Chase went off

I think the slippery field hindered LSU’s Offense more than everyone figured.

That said, the offense still played a very good game.

JV talked about it on the post game. They have the DL to do it. They went soft man on the outside and used their LBs and safety’s to play a bracket pass-off zone concept in the middle. Auburn was able to take away the middle of the field for the most part. They were guarding out 3-5 receivers with 7 and sometimes 8 at all times.

Yeah, and it made us look like LSU from last year, because they were penetrating and causing havoc in the pocket and backfield, and causing enough delay in route running to mess up the WR progression.

Thankfully CEH ran all over their asses.

I noticed several lineman slip and miss their blocks. But Joe, despite a few sacks, performed as well as you would hope in those conditions and against probably the best defense we’ve seen so far.

We are an early blown whistle, chase not getting caught from behind, and a muffed punt away from winning by 24. I think we’re fine

So we cant play our game unless the field is perfect? Please. Now we're blaming it on the field?

Guys both teams played on the same field yesterday.

Yep they usually run a 4-2-5 they came out in a 3-3-5 or 3-3 Stack. Brown and Davidson were in 3 Techs for most of the game and tried to collapse the pocket from within so Burrow couldn’t step up. Also which is why the inside dive wouldn’t work. LSU adjusted successfully and used the outside delay handoff. Moss was paired up with a linebacker or strong safety and each time on the edge he kicked their arse. They used 5 DBs and press coverage to force Burrow to make tight throws which he successfully did. Our wideouts are physical and can get off jams.

I get what you are saying but wet and muddy conditions can level the playing field in most sports.

Not that bad! The offense still rolled up 500 yards. Some red zone and kicking struggles, plus an unforced fumble on that punt, is what made the game even close. It was a little disappointing that the offense went quiet in the 4th instead of putting the game away but AU’s offense was hopeless and I think LSU was just trying to not make mistakes.

In those conditions against that defense, Burrow was a great game manager. It will go unnoticed nationally, but his play against AU was one of his best performances this year.

Dude got popped in the mouth & bounced back again & again.

? I thought the OL made adjustments after the first few series and did a hell of a job. This was a damn good front 7 they faxed. Lsu put up 500+ yards on them. Nothing like last year's offense. You guys deserve a loss.

We put 500 yards on those guys. Our play calling at the goal line was really vanilla.

It was a genius plan by Steele. He wasn’t going to let LSU beat them doing what LSU usually does. 3 down linemen with the 2 LBs stacked right behind them and the DBs all playing zone behind the LBs

We had receivers slip and fall out of breaks like 4 or 5 times that I saw. Who knows how many times it happened off camera.

I think even the split second longer it took our receivers to come out of breaks on this field made it much easier to cover us

Our WRs weren't getting separation for several reasons. Regardless, Burrowhad a very good game.

Yeah, it was mostly the play calling when we got closer to the red zone that hindered the point total. Auburn's D did a good job keeping us out, but the calls had zero creativity.

Still don't understand why the field isn't tarped for a big game.
