Dude is pulling top five prize money left and right ... he'll break through like Mickelson eventually did, but he's killing it weekly for now.

Why don’t you do that little bit of research for us? After all any intelligent person can tell you that it’s very very easy to lead or be within two shots of the lead after 54 holes on the PGA Tour. What a miserable person you must be.

I just asked you a simple question pal. Since you decided to pontificate with data, I figured you knew the answer. No need for research. Just ask Google AI. Here you go.

During the 2026 PGA Tour season, Sam Burns has held the 54-hole lead (or co-lead) or been within two strokes of the lead heading into the final round exactly 3 times.

54-Hole Performance Breakdown

The Open Championship: Burns carded a 5-under 65 in the third round to take a solo two-stroke lead at 10-under par. He ultimately finished in 3rd place after a final-round 72.

FedEx St. Jude Championship: He shot a bogey-free 62 on Saturday to enter the final round in a three-way co-lead at 11-under par. He finished the tournament tied for 3rd.

The Masters Tournament: Burns began the final round within one stroke of the lead after posting rounds of 67-71-68. A final-round 73 placed him solo 7th.

So….while, as you say, it is “very, very easy to lead or be within two shots of the lead after 54 holes on the PGA Tour“, only 2-3% of the original field do that every tournament. Sam has only done it 3 times this year and failed to win once.

So you’re one of those people that would rather focus on what he hasn’t accomplished rather than his tremendous accomplishments to date.
That’s a nice way to go through life pal

Geaux, Sam.

He has 5 PGA tour wins, btw. But yeah he's developing a Mickelson type vibe when he's in the lead or top contention on Sundays.

(It eventually turned out Ok for Mickelson.)

I do feel like Sam will break through with a Major win when he starts out in 5th place or worse on a Sunday and scorches the field. I have less confidence when he starts a Sunday with the lead.

He has 5 PGA tour wins,

The guess is 30,000 golfers have played the PGA tour events

only 250 have 5 PGA tour wins

Sam has 5 tour wins and not finished his career

This is inside the top 1% of all time golfers, incredible
