If he had just reached for the plate, no interference, when he backed his hands up and aligned them with the catcher's tag, its interference(this is what will be perceived by the umpire) when the cuck catcher drops the ball. Catcher should have never dropped the ball on that play. PM recruited a bunch of legit scrubs at Carolina. Im surprised he brought in that "look at me" lefty to his program.

I thought the call was pretty subjective. I could see Curiel's hands up as defensive, but I can also see the ump's perspective.
That being said, he shouldn't have been sent. I like being aggressive, but Tigers had a four run lead--they weren't trying to claw back. Hold Curiel there and it's bases loaded, one out. He would have scored on the hard groundout by Dardar.
