No he's not. We want players that WANT to be a Tiger. He was getting plenty of looks. One announcer said his freshman stats were as good as any first round tight end so he didn't leave because he wasn't getting the ball enough. So yeah. he quit. Period. But you want quitters on your team? Thank God you aren't a coach.

I am using my knowledge of what actually fricking happened. You're trying to assume stuff based on limited facts.

He also didn't officially opt out until days later when he was back in Georgia. Tough to lie and say he's seeking medical attention when everyone in the world would find out he's back home with his momma.

Also I'm sure he's embarrassed and would rather people call him a quitter than crazy. It's a sad situation, but people overcome mental issues like this with the right treatment. Brandon Marshall is a good example.

Arik has also been pro-LSU on social media lately so I don't think the ship has sailed...yet. Although our fanbase and former players being complete assholes hasn't helped. Yes, they read the internet.

No coincidence our run game took a step forward with a new TE.

The former players have every right to say what they feel. They, along with this fan base, have watched player after player quit on this 2020 team. It gets old.

And all of them were clearly told what was really going on and backtracked or deleted their comments.

I would hope, not matter how old it gets, that people have the mental fortitude to look at each situation in a vacuum and weigh the facts of each separately.

If this is true, then I support him in whatever it takes to overcome this.

But O did him no favors by publicly stating “his body hurt”. A better public statement that was truly supportive of Arik would have have helped minimize the highly predictable fan reaction that resulted due to O’s choice of words.

I don't really see a huge issue with the body hurt comment on the surface, O was just trying to take some heat off of Arik. Maybe a poor choice of words but the intent was to protect him from scrutiny. Obviously didn't work but I think O likes the kid and wanted to insulate him. It failed though

The manner in which O spoke about it last week told me all I needed to know. Gilbert was never coming back and he and family were positioning himself for immediate transfer.

Will anyone really be surprised if he ends up in the portal? Hell I have already told myself that is happening. Gilbert isn't returning here!

Exactly. Why not release something like this?

Nope sorry he’s 18-19 years old it’s time to be a big boy and start acting like a grownup. You made a commitment and you quit on your team. Don’t baby him. I wouldn’t want anyone babying my son making excuses for him if he did this, I would want him to learn there’s consequences for every decision you make in life and you don’t quit when things get tough.

What the hell are you talking about? The person you are replying to basically said Gilbert has serious legitimate pyschiatric problems and you are babbling about learning tough life lessons and not babying people? Just stop talking dude.

O is very poor at choosing words or being tactful. I get it, he’s passionate, but he sticks his foot in his mouth all the time.

Sad to hear that Gilbert has given up football and won’t be playing anywhere next year.

Exactly. Who wants to bet his mental health won’t be an issue by next year to play somewhere else?

This isn't as smart as you think it is and actually makes zero logical sense. The problem is now, who knows about next year.
