Comemtong to my son after the NC, said if there is anything to learn tonight, it is this is what happens when you give a coach time to build a program. If the the team continues to progress, O should get the tome to get there, if everyone does not freak if there is a hiccup year along the way. Keep stacking the recruiting classes, keep a quality staff & all will fall in place.

I'm excited about where LSU is heading right now. The recruiting is going super well and 2020 is shaping up to be epic.

The sports world is full of coaches that had a few early so-so years and then went on to be successful...Coach K at Duke...now Dabo... and others.
I’m confident Coach O can take us to a championship. Time will tell but I’m behind him 100 % in his effort.

In all fairness, all we had to go on with O was Ole Miss.

Key word is had. I saw people making still making this argument this very week.

At a better program (and more experience), he has proven that ole miss is not the final indication of how good a program he can run.

It’s just an invalid thing to hold over his head at this point.

Hey, PeePeeKing, who the hell is "everybody"?

By the way, I see people posting re LSU trying to "return" to the "elite" status........had any of them bothered to read stories in SI, CBS, ESPN, etc. in the last few days they would have seen them talk about the elite in 2018 & the 2019 teams to be in the CFP? LSU was right there with the Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, etc. Those writers are paid to know what the hell they are talking about, not to write about what they hope will happen because they either don't like the coach or because they are just mad at the world!

Love it, sicboy! Geaux Tigahs! Eaux has done a marvelous job of filling holes/needs. I'm optimistic that he will continue to steer this ship in the right direction.

I don't think we have to worry about that. He's already surpassed that with this season. Orgeron will never get as much leash as Dabo did, but he may not need it, Orgeron started off his career at LSU with a much better program than Clemson with Dabo.

I have to say this, but the more I watch and see about Dabo, the more I really like him as a person and leader of men. If Orgeron is ever on that level, the future of LSU is very very bright.

Not to mention LSU has to play Bama in the regular season every year,

Not only this but has to beat them TWICE to win a N.C, just like Auburn would’ve had to beat UGA AND Bama last year to win it. Grossly unfair because of the “eye test.”

Hopefully Dabo broke Nick the same way Nick did to Les on 01/09/12.

Well I believe Dabo is more intelligent than O, also Dado hadn't failed before at a major college. O isn't going to Dabo, but if he can make LSU a contender that is all most people want.

I would hope so. Hiring his “friends” got him suspended from the league for a year.

It' s great that this thread has gone on so long with mostly civil discussion from people with different points of view.

quote:

We ALL owe Dabo a debt of gratitude for crushing the "nice guys finish last" false narrative so carefully crafted by Emperor Nick and his sycophantic army.

This is a good and important point. Whenever a coach succeeds so greatly, a lot of people think everything about him needs to be emulated for another coach to be successful. I think the thing that made Saban so good was his X's & O's football IQ and his attention to detail and ability to convey that in his "program". To some extent the latter part involved his frequent a-hole behavior, but a lot of the a-hole behavior was just a separate effect of his personality.
