I would rather do a North vs South instate rivalry with LA Tech. At least they are scrappy most years.

Tulane is 5-6 and needs to beat SMU to be bowl eligible. This is a rarity for them. They routinely post crappy records. Consider this:

2017: 5-6
2016: 4-8
2015: 3-9
2014: 3-9
2013: 7-6 (lost bowl game)
2012: 2-10
2011: 2-11
2010: 4-8
2009: 3-9
2008: 2-10
2007: 4-8
2006: 4-8
2005: 2-9
2004: 5-6
2003: 5-7

So one winning season in the last 15. Wow. What a worthy opponent.

It was the same back in the 60s and 70s. Still Tulane usually played LSU tough.

I think they should make it a permanent game over games vs. the likes of Southeastern, ULM, Troy, etc.

I rather find an opponent with some upside to do that with.

I agree, however that will never happen because a home game would be lost every other year. Therefore I would rather a game with Tulane than an FCS opponent but that will not happen either unless Tulane agrees to play every game at Tiger Stadium and that is not going to happen. So - nothing will change.

No. No one gives a shite anymore. They tried it and basically had to cancel due to lack of interest

This is false. They quit due to financial pressure. Tulane would not play LSU unless it was home-and-home. LSU needed the home game every year to help pay the increasing costs of facilities and coaching salaries.

The real reason was that Tulane would be filling the dome every other year by charging LSU fans. LSU decided they would just keep that money themselves. If Tulane would agree to play each year in BR, or give most of the Dome gate to LSU, we could play them.

If Tulane wants to come to LSU for 700K a year- sure.
Do not do a home and away. They will triple the ticket prices when LSU comes to town. (like baseball)
I have no desire to help support the Tulane program.

LOL, what?
I can assure you that no matter how “overmatched” it appeared on paper, nothing was a given in this series and I too have been going to games since the late 50’s was in school the late 60’s early 70’s.
Those 80’s games were epic when Mack was there.
Screw Poolane!
