Let's all go join South Carolina boards and cry about CPM

Gee, who are we supposed to believe? A media that crapped all over Notre Dame for years that is now calling like they see it or a bunch of LSU fans who are stuck with ND's old coach?
Notre Dame has YET to beat a traditionally good final 4 playoff team. Every team in the playoff this year would have been destroyed by the extremely elite playoff teams Kelly lost to.

That's fairly obvious.

Leave it to our fanbase to "dislike" the most accomplished football coach we ever hired and a baseball coach that won a natty and went to another.

Just Yankee elitist crap. LSU was not worthy of BK. Once BK made the choice, it showed that he was the one who was not worthy of God's chosen university.

Remember this shite. BK is not a "fit". A backwoods jackass who punches himself in the face, he is a "fit". This is what they think of you down in 'BAH TAWN Roooo-Guh".

and you are on a LSU messageboard while your team is in the NC game...chances that I would ever go to a Domer messageboard are close to zero

I've been a BK critic. But kind of surprised with the backlash he is getting for saying he hoped ND wins because he recruited some of the kids. He was the 2nd topic on PTI yesterday and they went off on him.

It's really not that big of a deal. He does never seem to say the right thing to the media but most of the time it gets blown out of proportion. Comes with the territory of being a completely unlikable guy though.

Lotta BK hate. We don't care. He's got 2 years to find success. Then we move on.

What all these articles fail to (ALWAYS) point out, is BK served under AD Jack Swarbrick that publicly said often “we’re an academic school with a football program, not a football school with an academic program.” Swarbrick was notoriously cheap when it came to athletics. BK begged for a bunch of new upgrades, money for recruiting, for coaches, for facilities, for new programs. Got stone walled.

Those articles don't say that because it's not true. You must have missed, among many other things, the half billion dollar stadium renovation under Swarbrick's tenure.

Swarbrick was many things. Thrifty was not one of them.

I've read Irish Envy at times and many of the posters there seemed to believe that Swarbrick didn't invest heavily enough into the football program.

Are you saying this is wrong?

I do know that Notre Dame wasn't allocating as much money to coordinator salaries as they do now.

The only reason it's a big deal is that the 12-team playoff system allowed ND to be where they are right now. If it were still the 4-team format, no one would be talking about this BS.

Perceptions are an amazing thing.

Notre Dame fans and the media are everywhere beating their chests about how they're relevant again under Freeman

If there were still a 4 team playoff, they'd be at home crying about Freeman costing them a playoff shot because of a loss to a G5.

Meanwhile, Freeman is the same level of coach in both scenarios.

We were absolutely competitive with most of the top tier programs, never mind that we did the most expensive stadium renovation in college football history.

The one ding would have maybe been the football facility. It was originally built in Weis’ era and was redone during Kelly’s, but we are building a new $100M facility that breaks ground soon and will be finished in 2026.

May have been true early during Kelly’s time but certainly wasn’t the case in the latter half of his tenure. We matched A&M’s offer to Elko when he left. We beat out you guys for Freeman. Chip Long, Clark Lea, and Tommy Rees (who was around $2M five years ago) weren’t cheap.

This had more to do with Ed O being on the way out than money.
