Les was a scatter brained creep that hired good assistants and recruited good. We won a lot of games despite his awful game management. O loved LSU hired well and recruited well. He lost his marbles after the 19 ship and thought the program would run itself. He was passionate but not a great communicator. We commin.

We are truly a blessed program in that of the last two coaches - hailed by the majority of our fan base to be incompetent - one has virtually the highest win percentage in the program's history and the other compiled and coached arguably the best team in college football history. That's pretty cool.

Can't both blame the coach and give credit. If O takes the blame for the fall, he takes the credit for the build.

It's more complicated than just writing O off as the dumbest person to ever hold a clipboard.

He had great hires and he had horrible hires.

Joe Brady - great hire

Hoe Pelini - horrible hire.

As far as recrutiing, it's weird. O was able to make sure we had high ranked classes each year but man, it was like the ranking was all he cared about. Totally ignored positions of need and evaluating players beyond their star ranking.

One thing you can't argue with is that he loved LSU. Guy was basically just a mascot for the 2019 team but couldn't of been a better one.

Do I want him back? Hell no.

But now that we've moved on to a much better situation, I see no reason we can't just appreciate his 1 unbelievable season and leave it at that.

How does anyone really know that? He was one of those “this is my dream job” guys everywhere he went.

But I refuse to believe a coach can fall arse-backwards into possibly the greatest college football team there ever was and be completely worthless.

Who won 3 national championships between them. Don’t oversimplify someone’s character, it makes you look silly.

He had 1 great hire. That’s it.

The rest were uninspired trash. Because no one wanted to work for him.

He fricking hired a guy without even interviewing him. Not that he’d know how to really conduct an interview but still.

So what you’re saying is that he was not a good recruiter.

Dude, it’s ok to admit they’re idiots. They don’t read this site. And if they do, who tf cares? And between the two of them, they only won two national championships.

No, like I said before it's more complicated.

Being a bad recruiter (across the board) would mean he can't get kids to wanna come here and we end up being in the 30s on the rankings.

O seemed to be able to get a lot of kids to buy in, he just wasn't strategic about it. Seemed like he went after highly ranked recruits at any position instead of honing in on specific needs where we were thin.

I'm the first one to say that he doesn't come close to sniffing a natty at another university but I still don't think he's full on Simple Jack like you seem to.

You’re saying BK has one season left to win a championship?

Bingo.

O is the James Hunt of college football.

Keep his dick out of the young blondes and he could have repeated.

Given how wild his life became... It's a miracle he didn't dive off into drinking again. I can't fault the guy for needing young blonde split tail to keep his sanity.

Pure and simple… Les Miles would still be at LSU if he could beat Alabama year after year. Les was weird but had been in coaching for many years at successful programs prior to coming to LSU. Coach O was great for two years with Joe Burrow at QB and a few other outliers such as CEH, Jefferson, Moss. After Burrow used up eligibility and one coordinator was hired as a head coach and another returned to coach in the NFL it became really obvious that Coach O was not up to the task of being a head coach in the SEC. And yes, Coach Kelly is organized, deliberate, a good time manager both on and off the field, selects good assistants, analysts, and willing to listen to people ahead of the curve concerning advances in technology. Coach Kelly understands statistical data and the way to incorporate the data into useful ways to elevate our LSU players physically and mentally. Kelly’s the real deal… a real professional head coach.
