I don't buy into all the talk about Saban and Smart just being recruiters and not good coaches. If that were the case, the longevity of Saban and Smart wouldn't have lasted because a fraud of a coach is revealed much sooner in a career. Obviously talent helps tremendously but they also need knowledge, leadership, organization and communication to succeed and dominate and that's where great coaches come into play. All the guys you mentioned are great coaches.

any real fan should know both can coach if they watched any football. but most fans are football ignorant and do not even know WTF they are watching and have zero concept of coaching or playing ball or X and O's, etc.
how you think saban has best d in NFL in cleveland? crootin? LOL
go look at sabans defenses with the dolphins. they were good. why? that is his specialty.

Saban said it himself that he wasn’t the greatest coach but the best recruiter. I just believe Brian Kelly/Chris Peterson are elite when it comes to the Xs and Os. Every time Saban plays teams with almost as much talent as him. They make him look crazy (not always though)
