BK keeps preaching about taking the next step from being good to elite. I understand nothing is confirmed yet but I think keeping house would contradict what he’s been trying to drive home to his players. House has shown no signs of being “elite.” The average fan can understand that maybe we should try pressing and force the 3rd string QB into making an accurate throw instead of giving him an easy 5-8 yard completion every play. He’s the opposite of an “elite” coach as seen by his inability to adjust.

House in year one is the only reason we won the number of games we did.

House in year two isn't the only reason we're not in the CFB. We had lots of injuries.

CBK is choosing to remember the year one version for year three. On paper, House looks like a good guy for the job.

Good grief.

This is an enlightening post. No dline coach, no good dline play, 1 good lb that’s a true freshman that missed a handful of games allegedly because of a cut foot, and a slew of injuries and quitters at db including easily your best at safety (brooks) and CB (Alexander) and you’re talking about elite. Who’s going to make that group elite?

It depends on what BK thinks was the issue and how much BK was involved in the game planning. LSU was short staffed in the defensive backfield, so its possible that they decided together than they shouldn't leave those guys alone and blitz.

We don't know what convos have been had behind closed doors. I think House should go, but you have to look at the situation beyond your own opinion.

You have to remember, BK is a process guy. And I think he thinks enough things went wrong to interfere with the process this season, that he will continue on with House. Or at the very least, see if he gets poached for another job.

I agree with you I think he did a pretty good job last year and that he’s not the only person to blame for this year’s struggles. But, if you’re BK and you’re going to preach being “elite” retaining a guy whose defensive unit was HISTORICALLY terrible, then he’s contradicting himself. I just thought his lack of adjustments this year were truly astounding at times.

On paper, Matt House just fielded one of the worst defenses in LSU history.

I don’t necessarily disagree with this. But House didn’t do himself any favors this year with his lack of adjustments, not finding a way to use Perkins, playing guys like speights, awful game planning etc.

My concern for the future is that house and BK haven’t really been able to reel in big recruits to help. If you’re unable to recruit, it doesn’t matter who you have coaching.

You mean the 1 good linebacker we refused to play? I understand this group was never going to be elite because of the personnel but you can’t tell me that matt house was an elite coach this year in terms of adjustments and play calling…

Need I also remind you how he used Harold Perkins this season. Something that I think has been forgotten about which may be his biggest frick up.

In year 1 he let Harold Perkins be Harold Perkins

In year 2 he handcuffed him and almost made him irrelevant.

That is more than enough proof House is in over his head, not to mention his recruiting is subpar

Have you considered the chance that the defensive struggles could be more the fault of BK?

He hired the entire defensive staff before House came on board

He is the one that wants to have separate safety and cornerback coaches. I don't know another coach with this philosophy.

He is in charge of personnel and recruiting. He inherited a bunch more talent on the offense side of the ball, like Nabers and Thomas

He is measured and analytical, most Defensive Coordinators are more aggressive.

BK decides on disciplinary issue.

You have to recruit well to take the next step. We’re not doing that.

You seem really angry ever since it’s become apparent that your claim that Drelon was committing to LSU was bs

Any idea if Pete Jenkins will be returning next season?

Apparently not Kelly. He hired the Defensive staff and the Strength and Conditioning Staff. We have had more injuries and missed games because of Such than any season I can remember.
He also hired the Special teams Coach, last season, that cost us a game and came close on another.

Elite? No one. But, the Bama game could’ve been different. How do you not spy a QB whose accuracy is arse, but legs are great? There was no reason not to.

Greg Brooks would have made a huge difference.
