GOAT LSU safety. so much better than laron landry. it's laughable to think people would argue with me about that back in the day

You are the greatest SFP.

Not too many people around here realized that Jamal Adams was a stud.

I will assume you are counting TM7 as a corner.

I'd take Laron over Adams though.

Like in college or pro? Adams was the better pro, but Laron was better in college.

Definitely LaRon with LSU. Adams was instinctive and a great all-around player. But LaRon was faster and a more explosive hitter. And his overall production is the best in LSU history for a safety. Among safeties, LaRon is #1 in both interceptions and tackles (tied with Clark).

LaRon is also one of only two Tigers that I have been able to find to reach a rare stat combination of double digits in both interceptions (12) and tackles for loss (16). Mark Roman (10 ints, 13 tfls) also reached double digits in both. Ivory Hilliard (9 ints, 9 tfls) was close. I was not able to find any Tigers who reached double digits in both interceptions and sacks.

LaRon had some damn good seasons in the NFL too. He was a Pro Bowler in his only season with the Jets. That 2012 season was as good as any Adams has had with the Jets. Before an injury in 2010, he was playing at a Pro Bowl level and among the best at any defensive position.

I seen both of those guys play at LSU and Laron Landry had better ball skills than Jamal Adams did. They were both good against the run but Laron was always catching interceptions. Laron Landry and Craig Stelz were ball hawks.

Jamal Adams has been clearly better than LaRon at the college and pro level.

People just remember LaRon as being a beast because of all his hits on Brodie Croyle and John Parker Wilson. He sucked in coverage.

LaRon getting getting trucked by Brandon Jacobs on Sunday night football in 2008 is one of the most devastating hits that I’ve seen. He got completely and totally owned.

It would be interesting to see some kind of advanced breakdown of the amount of plays made that spanned the most amount of field. Landry was all over the field with LSU. My guess is he would be the #1 player in LSU history in that type of breakdown.

Landry is also the #1 safety in LSU history in passes defended. Only two cornerbacks -- Corey Webster and Chevis Jackson -- rank ahead of Landry in that category.

Jacobs was a rare 260+ superfreak RB. He got the better of LaRon on that play. It happens. It's football. Pull up a highlight reel of LaRon blowing guys up in the NFL and you'll see a lot more of it.

Did Mark Roman come to LSU as a rb or wr and then move to db?
