In some fairness he had nobody to throw to in high school besides his brother. I think he's a solid but not great arm talent.

The arm deficiency of Max shouldn't bother anyone after watching Burrow.
The mobility deficiency of Brennan shouldn’t bother anyone after watching Tom Brady?

No bootleg with an option to throw or run?
This is the standard answer of the benighted fan. You hardly ever see this called in the last 30 years. It immediately shrinks the field that the defense has to defend, and the front seven are much more athletic these days and can chase down a QB.

We’ve actually witnessed myles’ lack of mobility be a problem, though.
Arm strength is overrated (see burrow). Mobility is not.
And if we really want to talk about “benighted,” do you really want to go with the “but Tom Brady could do it” angle?

I don't care if he can run like Burrow. His movement around the pocket, keeping the play alive and finding the open guy, is what's important.
When you talk about Brady in this respect, his shiftiness in the pocket was unparalleled. He wasn't going to burn you on the run, but he could slide and shift perfectly to be able to find the window.

Another obstacle to comparing the two QBs from last year's performances is the fact Johnson didn't have Terrace Marshall in his final 3 games (out of 5 total and both starts).
This is a good point.

It’s can be.
I think Johnson is a better runner than he is a scrambler and if you just run around before taking an 11 yard sack you’re not any better than they who is slow and takes sacks

Because Brennan was better than Johnson last year by a considerable amount. He put up better numbers against better defenses
Mississippi State, Missouri, and Vanderbilt?

The only arguments for Johnson are
1. He can run better
2. People that use team results
No, the argument for Johnson are that he performed at a damn high as a freshman and that it's reasonable to expect a pretty big leap forward in year 2.

LSU gets blown out without their turnovers from the defense
I doubt it, but it probably would not have been a nail biter. Anyway, without the turnovers we might as well not have had a defense at all. That was the only way we could stop Missouri.
You can’t just subtract the points off turnovers. They would have scored on some - maybe all - of those drives. So instead of 41, it’s reasonable to assume we would have had 31. And that’s with a defense that contributes zero turnovers and can’t get them off the field.

Not really. You compare their results at the present moment and give consideration to those realities.
If there’s no significant difference between the two, you go with the young guy who still has the potential to get a lot better, not the senior who is what he is at this point.

Look On the bright side, at least we don’t have to hear and read about how racist LSU fans are with this qb battle.

We get the Myles Brennan that showed up in the Missouri game it will be an epic battle as to who starts and a win win for the team.

Of course, I understand that. But I’m also into patterns & I just can’t sit and pretend that he ran that offense like a top 5 pick.
Did he make a few top 5 QB throws? Sure, ok. Did he play like one over the course of a game? frick no

The Saints won a super bowl off this model. You give good QBs extra possessions & they murder you. Football 101. So you get 4 extra against a garbage team and lose? You are not that guy pal, you are not that guy.

Which is a big positive with a below average offensive line
