We led the SEC in hitting with runners on base in 2009 and 2010, I'm trying to find stats from 2011-2013.

From our media guide. I looked for it on the SEC website but last years stats aren't on there. I do remember we were in the top 3-4 in the SEC in that stat last year.

It's weird, that we can finish, say 2nd or 3rd in the SEC in BA, have more double plays than the teams ahead of us, and still do that well RISP. Is it just the case where we hit into more double plays with runners on first than everyone else? Strange.

I think you just follow LSU closer than any other team. You don't stop to think that maybe other teams have the similar issues or worse.

Anybody else notice how our players' hitting improves in summer ball without Javi?

It's common to improve dramatically over summer. Say what you want about Javi, but this is a very poor argument.

Go to pages 15 and 16 on the two links for RISP. We have been #1 in the SEC the past 2 years.

2012= .326/RISP with no other SEC team in the .300s
2013= .316/RISP with only 2 other SEC teams in the .300s

The only valid argument I've read is that LSU should have the absolute best of the best in a hitting coach, a la Alan Dunn for pitching.

I've never tried to argue that Javi is God's gift to coaching. I'm as frustrated as anyone with how last season ended and with our offensive production this year. Just want people to take a step back and understand that we've been a pretty damn consistently good hitting team under Javi and the stats indicate as such.

Hunt Palmer has a pretty good article over on BBI about Fraley and the changes he made after struggling in the Fall. According to the article it didn't have anything to do with a hitting instructor in New Mexico or Delaware, nor did it involve watching YouTube. Most of the posters here would be surprised and disappointed.

Well if some of my clients went and hired outside help, to do the job that I was suppose to be doing for them. I think it'd be safe to say I was fired. If only this applied to barbque buddies. Also did it occur to anyone besides me that we may be good at hitting because a lot of our big time players get outside instruction??

Good evening grammar and spelling police. Also a shout out to all the unicorn riders. Pretty day for it!!!

But at a school like LSU you should have a good enough hitting coach to where it shouldn't happen this often.

This is what I agree with. Javi just isn't SEC caliber yet. The SEC isn't the training grounds, it is the top of the game. We should have the hitting equivalent of Dunn here.

I never said Javi is a bad hitting coach, but I think he struggles with helping our players break slumps. He should be able to tweek their mechanics to get them back in their groove, in less than a months time.
