Very few on here ate truly qualified to judge if javi is a good coach. I agree with one poster here that if he was really good at his job he would have offers around the country.

The basis for the problems is that LSU should never hire a graduate assistant to be a coach. LSU baseball should be able to cherry pick coaches from around the country.

How long did it take you when you were coaching in the SEC?

So you can't make a comment unless you've coached in the SEC? you don't think that's kind of ridiculous?

So, we should be able to cherry pick top notch assistants that are cherry picked from us as a sign of success. I got it.

I never coached college sports; any sport. But I read here where people post with absolute certainty what a college coach should do. I am just interested in how they arrived at that conclusion. What is their background that they are so certain? Specifically what did they do in similar circumstances and how did it work out?
I have no idea how to correct a batting slump. I have no idea how long it should take. I'm just seeking information. How is that ridiculous? Am I the only one around here that admits that there is something I don't know?

Not sure where I was not clear tiger foot.

Let me try again. If Alabama football hires a graduate asst to be offensive coordinator, is it a good hire on face value?

It it may turn out to be a good hire, but initially, it should be questioned. They should only hire the best.

Bingo, that's my point. We are arguably the best college baseball program in America and we hire a grad assistant because he is the head coaches godson? LSU should always hire the best. If Javi was the best, he would have offers from other programs.

We know for sure that he hasn't?

Without getting too far off topic, answer one question, gray: should a top 5 program hire a graduate asst to be a top level coach?

That is a fair point. However, we are now in the 6th season, not the 6th month, following the hire.

Simply stating where I think the dislike comes from.

MOT, do you think there is a better hitting coach out there that would consider coming to LSU?

There are better head coaches, hitting coaches, pitching coaches, and volunteer coaches that would come to LSU. Is that the basis for evaluating our current staff?

If you go by experience alone, think Smoke Laval.

Either way I would rather rely the head coach to make that decision. Has LSU never hired a graduate assistant in any sport to a position like Javi's? Is this first time?

MOT, yes, LSU baseball should hire the absolute best.

Gray, I didn't ask if this were the first time a grad asst was hired to a significant position. I asked if you thought that a top flight program should hire a grad asst to a top asst position.

The benefit to being a top program is that you do not have to reach, or take risks in coaching hires. That is not to say that a hire will not be wrong. But you do not have to reach.

We should hire bregs personal hitting coach for the Tigers. Javier is the problem. Just echoing what have of the post already mentioned.

So you're in favor of firing the entire staff immediately following the final out of this season because better coaches exist?

To those in this thread that say LSU = Best Program in the country, have you folks watched USCe since 2004?

LSU Baseball isn't even the best program in the SEC the last decade..

Now, back to the dating back to Notre days, godson, Sweet Baby Javi BBQ sauce, master of the Weber pit, blind loyalty, etc..talk.
