re: Bregman, Crews and...Milam

Milam has been pretty good so far, but I would not put him up with Bregman and Crews yet at all. Lt him get to SEC pitching first before we put him down as one of the best all-time freshman seasons at LSU like Bregman and Crews had.
That being said, it's pretty clear to me he would have been a fairly high draft pick probably had he been 2-3" taller.

Maybe, but I think his lack of draft prospects has more to do with him not being a power hitter. Like he's puts the bat on the ball a lot and gets a lot of singles, and that's very valuable for a college baseball team, but not necessarily something pro scouts are looking for.
Maybe he gets more power with more height, but it's not like teams were clamoring for Raph Rhymes after his .400 season.

That's part of what I'm getting at here, but he actually packs a lot of power for someone his size. Didnt he lead New Mexico in slugging percentage or something his juinor or senior season? You can see he gets some good oomph behind his hits he has already had here, you see his name on some of the top exit velocities at times from games and such.
No he isnt a 20+ HR guy in MLB probably but he clearly has some good pop in his bat for a kid who is maybe 5'7 on a good day. At probably 5'6-5'7 though he was always going to get completely overlooked by MLB for most part.
Even Altuve got told he was too short originally then he finally got a minor league FA deal eventually. Also keep in mind he was not a HR hitter really at all until he was like 25-26 in MLB. His first 4 seasons in MLB from 21-24 years old he hit 2, 7, 5 and 7 HRs respectively.

2 of these are not like the other

People saying this will be the first ones to say he needs to be in the bench after his first mistake

We get it…you haven’t been around baseball for very long. I wonder what you would have said about Fontenot, Hollander, and Hanover ;)

We're talking about one guy getting MVP votes and the other arguably the greatest player in program history. I absolutely love what I'm seeing from Milam, but he won't ever be Crews, and that's ok. We don't need to be espn and try to constantly wonder who's the next goat. Crews was special special. That doesn't come around every recruiting cycle. He and Walker were 30 years apart.

I'm bad luck for Milam, the only time he gets hits is when I'm not watching. He's literally batting .000 with me watching him

And Bregman let a routine grounder run through his legs to lose the CWS to UCLA. Got any more?

You’re setting this kid up to fail

And bregman was a freshmen all american with a ton of accomplishments. Not played 4 games

Man, I remember Breg’s freshman year. He was like an obnoxious puppy chasing everything on his half of the field.
I knew then he was either going to be special or a burn out. Glad he was a Tiger.

Milam's statue will require less bronze.

I just don't think yall remember Bregman at LSU or his recruitment. He was always going to be a stud. This thread is embarrassing.

I’ve never followed recruiting for any sport. I don’t know who is who until they get to campus.
I remember Bregman as a Tiger very well and like I said he was all over everything. Almost annoying at first.

Bc he was a highly rated SS who got injured and turned down a lot of money he wanted more guaranteed.

My point exactly. And for Crews to be in this title, is embarrassing and I thought our fan base had more sense than that. Not every player will be on center field.

You lumped in both knowing him through recruiting and while at LSU.
I could give two shits about recruiting - especially baseball because of the havoc the draft used to play on it or maybe still does.
