2020 was the WORST defense in LSU history. This is compelling journalism.

We have some heralded kids, some journeymen, some under achievers, transfers, and several new coaches. They all have a lot to prove.

Last season we were terrible and for us to win ten games it’s got to play a whole lot better.

Big plays are what killed us on defense, it wasn't like the defense was overmatched.

We gave up big plays, and little plays. Wd were run on and passed on. Overmatched physically? No, but we were overmatched as teams repeatedly cut us up. Dink, dunk, missed tackle, missed assignment and it was 6 points easily.
We started out of shape, and we had no idea of what we were doing. And we were way overhyped.

Jones is a solid hire.

Completely unproven to this point.

We couldn't get any coordinators with chops because everyone in football knows O will be gone in a year or two.

I’ll say it… the spring game

The spring game gave me serious concerns. The LB play was horrid. I just hope the absent LB’s make a big impact (but even if they do, then the drop off between 1st string and 2nd string must be huge).

The good news is that after last year’s record-breaking levels of bad on defense, it won’t take much to improve.

The offense will be fine. The Tigers don’t need dominant defense. They just need a defense that can even just slow down the other teams.

LSU needs a defense that can create turnovers, in doing so denying the other team the ability to keep up with our high scoring offense.

The defensive line will be fine. Talented, experienced, and deep. The linebackers will also be fine. They'll be good against the run, and covering RBs/TEs. Ricks and Stingley are the best outside corner duo in the country, but they need to be healthy. My concern would be the secondary outside of Ricks and Stingley - I just don't know what to expect.

I don’t think the defense needs a wholesale makeover. They just need coaches who can maximize the talent.

This is not like the offense under Miles where the philosophy and scheme were the problems for years and years.

The defense had one off year and there is no reason not expect a rebound this season.

Even Arandas defense couldn’t stop offenses at times, the 2019 Fla game comes to mind.

Mullen did us a favor going to the change of pace QB as often as he did. Killed a few promising drives that way.

Agree, Mullen wishes he had that game to do over.
