was the ACT/SAT optional before Tate become president?

yes was from F King

captial tiger said it best

quote:

The enrollment situation is the result of a failure beginning about 10 years ago. Competitors like Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Kentucky focused on recruitment from above average kids from nearby high-population states (Texas, Georgia, Tennessee) that were getting delayed/deferred admissions to their in-state schools.

This allowed these schools to remain financially strong. LSU and King Alexander got caught behind the curve here so threw most of their recruitment efforts at Online and Pell Grant students.

Tate kept it in place since revenue was solid and put his efforts towards research growth.

ill say though that fund raising was up across the board, he put a huge emphasis on athletics, he did a great job on research

research funding reached almost 550 million which was highest it has ever been

he also got almost 250 million in donations to the university, he started the pentagon priorities research project which focused research on mainly 5 areas where LSU was already strong, and IMO his biggest success was the financial measurements he took to stabilize things like hiring freezes, consolidating a bunch of the admin roles and then he grew LSU Online to generate revenue.

sure the role of the system president is to help research funding but their main goal is to make sure the university is in good financial order, fund raising and overall steering of the university to grow the enrollment and academic rating.

i am very hopeful both Rousse and Dalton continue on the fundraising side, focus on improving the quality of student coming in through reimplementing the act requirement and through highlighting student life on campus.

im hoping there is renewed vigor about athletics and greek life and a focus on key areas in academics where LSU can really shine.

Rumors have been that he’s coming but not as AD…Associate AD

from what i was told, money people said Schroyer cant be AD right away, has to get experience in the Athletic department under someone else first.

So is this good or bad for the university and the Athletic Dept? And this would mean we're likely getting the McNeese AD, right?

[Yes, I'm being a little lazy. But my cursory search here and googling yielded only sky-screaming type reactions.]

It means the pieces are falling into place for Verge full time AD and Schroyer as associate AD as predicted by many.

I'm still holding out that LSU can poach a P4 AD.

Good to know. Just wanted to make sure we don’t have someone with true insider knowledge around here to pay attention to.

we been knowing this was gonna happen. some though Landry didnt want that and that was why Tate left but that wasnt true. I mean Landry played a part in Tate leaving but Rutgers was also a promotion and landry was fine with the split.

Appreciate all the info.

As an alumnus I am sadly very uninformed about the university's leadership and who these people are.

What a time to be a Tiger.

I wish the best for Chancellor Dalton and President Rousse.

Make LSU Great Again

yeah, I get it that COVID complicated things for the kids graduating high school in 2021, who would have been taking the test during the height of COVID...but there is no way kids graduating in 2024 and 2025 (or even 2023) from high school should have been exempt from taking the test...that is on Tate.

Hollistic admissions started in 2018 under the worst president ever...F King the douchebag. Actually it really started in 2011 under Lombardi with the decision to increase Pell Grant admissions and to target those admissions. Then F King fricking decided to pour rocket fuel on it and now we have the fricking shite show we have now.

i do not know enough about Dalton to know if he wants to do away with the hollistic admissions program. But i pray he does.

Verge and Shoyer aren’t going to be ADs

Insider on ON3 think we land a different but reputable AD pretty soon

I honestly am really pumped about all of this.

Dalton gets to focus on the places he will have the most impact-Baton rouge Pennington and the HSCs and rousse handles the political side.

i mean i get what you are saying but man so many people said the same thing about Dan Radakovich....that he wasnt ready. so he leaves, goes to Ga Tech and hires Paul Johnson and sees their rise in football and baseball. then leaves to clemson and is AD during their most successful time. then leaves to go to his Alma Mater (MBA) at Miami and over sees the turn around there

whole point is, experience doesnt always mean someone is a better person for the job. that kind of thinking is exactly how we ended up with BK.

hire the best person that the university feels can lead us back to athletic greatness in football and bball.

but may I ask....what is the boards hang up on Verge? is it just because he has never been the full time AD?

I’m sure it has to do with his past title 9 stuff. We’d probably get some flack nationally on all that.

why?

Dalton is best on the Research and Academic side

Rousse is best on the business, fund raising and athletic side and most importantly he in the lightening rod on the political side that shields Dalton when tough decisions are needed.

wtf is there not to like about this? its the best possible outcome, pretty much everyone gets what they want.

It’s jarring to think about how long we let F King Alexander poison the well. Dude was just drunk all day complaining to the government instead of any proactive moves.

I didn’t agree with Tate on a few ideas but he was far and away the most impressive leadership we had since O’Keefe.

Excited about this new tandem coming in.

Yeah, I liked the Rousse idea but only under the condition you bring Dalton too.

wasnt all of that proven false though?

and like i said, there are 2 names i know of for sure that we will go after first. I do know Rousse wanted Schoyer at first but was told by money people he isnt ready yet.
