Story could get fascinating… has there been any indication what the relationship is to the bettor? It would suck if it’s a friend or family member he talks to often who gently asks questions to get nuggets of info to place bets..

My guess is:
Bohannon probably knew this was his last season as head coach. Then on to some minor school where he cant pay his current bills. Trying to make a little extra cash before he goes.

Or it could be something as basic as he just didn't understand how the gambling industry works. Sports gambling outside of LV is a very new concept for many people. Bohannon may have figured "I'm not personally placing the bet. And the bet is being placed in a state several hundreds miles away from where I am located." Why would anyone think to investigate me for a bet in Ohio?"...not knowing that such a bet could draw scrutiny. Especially in a sport were the bookmakers take very little action on and, as a result, probably set relatively low limits.
Odd are he is not the only coach who has, indirectly, bet on games involving his team. He just picked a dumb sport to risk it on because the volume of bets is low.

You explain the rampant stupidity in your fanbase then.

If reports are true this was not a 1st time incident. He's gonna go to jail.

I would think you could at least go to Vegas to place the bet and minimize suspicion. Spread out some dummy bets to throw them off the scent.
I'm more angry that they were so lazy and greedy about this.
Like Ace said in Casino, if they weren't so greedy they'd have been a lot tougher to catch.

If Bahannon did place 100,000 bet on LSU to win and LSU won. How much would he have won?

About $40,816 on -245 odds

Thx.
Im guessing $100,000 grand is being held as evidence.

Good question. I would think so unless they refunded the bet after they stopped all betting on Bama baseball.

Like someone pointed out, he would have to bet 100k to make 40k on this. That's not a life-changing amount, I just looked it up and he was making $275k base, plus $200k "talent fee" per year. That's 475k a year.
You don't risk your career for less than 10% of your yearly income. So he's either been doing this a LOT more, he's a complete idiot (I think it's unlikely to the extent it would require), or someone got their hooks into him.
I think this could be very, VERY bad news for Bama. It's one thing to blur the recruiting rules, and an entirely different beast to be caught betting against your own team. That smells like "fixing games", which would be a devastating scandal. And you better believe they will go over that entire athletic program with a fine tooth comb because of that.
Curious (no allegations, just something that came to mind because of all this): how much was the payout for UGA beating Bama in 2022? Because that's the exact thing I think they might start researching next, now that this has popped up.
