NEWS: Former #Huskers coach and current Youngstown State coach Bo Pelini is expected to replace Dave Aranda as #LSU's next defensive coordinator, sources tell @SINow.

Pelini's multi-year deal will pay him around $2M a year. He served as DC under Les Miles from 2005-07.

Objectively, he's been out of the loop for a while. The last 5 years in FCS. 13 years since he roamed an SEC sideline.

Would other solid programs make such a hire? Probably not.

Downvote away cucks it is what it is. Much like E, it's another hire that would only happen under O.

$2 million a year?

Hopefully we have some left over for a good passing game coordinator...

Based on recent contracts, LSU seems to be throwing too much money at just about everyone.

I think it's a good hire. Most of his teams at Nebraska and LSU had highly ranked defenses.

I think he learned his lesson. He will stick around and make 2.00 and not have hard questions.

Welcome back Bo

That’s what happens when you win a national title and bring in millions to the department

Just hope Pelini and O don't end up butting heads. Pelini is a hot head and O doesn't seem like he takes crap from anyone.

Also, wonder what what other staff positional changes we'll see. I wouldn't be surprised to see some more coaches/analysts walk.

Particularly for a guy making about $200k-$300k at the moment. And one that didn't seem to have much significant interest outside of LSU.

He must have been O's first and only choice, leaving LSU with little negotiating leverage.

I’ve truly never felt more impartial about a hire in my life. Was he an accomplished DC in the past, yes. Would he have been on the forefront of other SEC or FBS schools, maybe.

Not a bad hire by any means, just an odd time to bring someone back that has been away from the program for nearly 13 years.

We’ll see how it plays out.
