The guy is a stud with an enormous upside. Let's bow our heads and hope he ends up a Tiger. I'm close with a prominent member of his immediate family. The decision is completely on Blayne and he waivers day to day. He's being told that the Friday night spot is his if he comes. Chances are this 18 year old will be choosing between that and a 1st round contract come the middle of June. God help us.

Does this mean that the immediate family member is prominent in society? Or does this mean you're close with the most important member of his immediate family?

1st rounder. Too much money to pass up. End of thread.

ETA...I think the kid really wants to play for LSU, but he knows he can't pass up first round money

Lol a prominent member of his immediate family. As in this person was 50% responsible of the making of baby Blayne. It's not like I'm handing out breaking news...just figured y'all would appreciate confirmation of what most of us figured. It's a toss up.

I think he is gone, but to say the Friday night spot is his is a bit of an overstatement. I have a hard time believing he will pitch over Hess on Friday night next season.

I do know that $1 mil won't pull him from LSU...it will have to be more. He's a born and raised Tiger fan and wants to be at LSU. It all depends on the money.

First round money.

Being in majors at age 20 instead of age 23.

Being looked at as valuable asset with every opportunity open.

If we had a nickel for every time we heard this on the rant about a baseball recruit we could pay for another server. 7 figures is just way too dumb to pass up. You dont get that guarantee again in 2-3 years. If he's drafted in round 1 or 2, I have little doubt he'd sign.

Do Walker and Hess know this?

I thought the same thing. After I was told that, I did a little research. He possesses what many consider to be the best curve ball of all prospects, high school or college. I watched him pitch surrounded by scouts with radar guns. He was consistently 91-93 in the 7th. It's not hard to imagine.

If we didn't have Hess coming back I'd give him a good shot, but there's little doubt Hess at least, will start off in that Friday night spot next season. Enlow would have to be ridiculously dominant to get the Friday night spot as a freshman.

They don't just pick a kid and hope they offer him enough money in the 1st or 2nd round.

There is a chance he doesn't get picked in those rounds because the team looking to take him called him and couldn't meet his number so they picked someone else.

I'm not guaranteeing he comes to LSU, but I feel good about him getting to campus.

I'm sure it wouldn't be handed to him. It was probably voiced to him that the spot was open for competition blah blah blah. Regardless, the kid has a decision that I could never imagine making at 18. Selfishly I want him here, but can't knock the kid if he decides to become a millionaire

Exactly. They'll be sitting by the phone come draft night waiting to see what's offered.

Maybe his parents are OT Ballerz?

But seriously, there are some kids' families out there who could turn down $1M to support their kid in getting the college experience. It'd be a tough decision no matter how well off they are, but don't dismiss it.
