Exactly where I suspected this would go, Coaches and Facilities will be taking a hit until the NIL/Portal corrects the market. Kelly is essentially being forced to take a pay cut and give that money to the players. The money has always been there especially in College Football, now it is going to be re-distributed to the players. Coaches will have to take less to get players and Do you think a player would rather a $100k in their pocket or some fancy sleeping pod at their locker ? the overtop facilities will be a thing of the past

This is real effort by BK on getting people pitching in. Can't say he's not trying.

It's admirable as frick and anyone who has a problem with it is completely brain dead.

He's not being forced to do shite.

Don't forget he also gave $1 million to TAF in 2022 for the construction of a new and improved athletic training room and recovery suite within the LSU Football Operations Facility.

I could tell.
It was also just a joke. He still has one more game before we can pile on with serious takes of his performance thus far.

if Bayou Traditions is worried about normal fans donating similar to Ole Miss, maybe they should, uh, actually market the collective.

BK knows that receipts comment is going to get played all the time

This is a great move by BK. He just watched LSU get outbid for some top recruits and now he is having to compete for top transfer portal guys. It’s not that LSU doesn’t have any money it’s just that they don’t have quite enough to get the players they want. Good for him for putting his money where his mouth is.

It is, but even still the bayou traditions logo is tiny

He knows he has to do something with his $10M salary if he wants to win and stick around
This is self preservation, however, I respect it because he probably didn't have to. Although I wouldn't be surprised if there was mounting pressure...making $10M/yr is one thing for the boosters to dish out, but now they're being asked to foot the bill for players too. Good for coach to put some skin in the game, especially as one of the highest paid public figures in the state

Yeah the coaches salaries were due to regress regardless…we once sent shockwaves through CFB paying Saban over 1mil…we now have a DL coach making more than that
But yeah it’s a good PR move for Kelly to put some skin in the game. It’s not the best look when you’re making 10+ mil and you’re asking fans to donate more to pay for the talent to help you win.
Ugh college football just sucks now and it all could have been mitigated had the schools and NCAA just made a few concessions along the way to placate.
