Risky decision by Kelly to pull a stunt like this. It’s one thing to constantly throw players under the bus to cover for your shitty DC but it’s an entirely different level when you lie to do it.

Just so I’m clear - are you saying we didn’t have 34 missed tackles for 285 yards?

Additionally, I'd like to know how many yards were before contact and/or those missed tackles. I'd bet that's probably another 40% of the total rushing. Judkins was straight abusing Savion on the edge.

According to SECStatCat, OM had 65 yards before contact and 219 yards after contact (rushing).

I don’t have a source that charts yards after contact for passes so not sure what those numbers would have looked like.

Thanks for that. It definitely seemed like more. Everything I looked at the TV #35 was crashing while Judkins was blowing by on the edge. Didn't matter what side either. Lane was abusing the entire defensive staff all night.

No argument here. It’s infuriating watching Lane do all of this stupid cutesy shite (pulling everyone to one side then running a naked toss the opposite direction) successfully. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great offensive coach.. but man it pisses me off.

He sees the problem, but he doesn't know how to fix the problem. This isn't the first game we have whiffed on multiple tackles.
Same ole same ole on defense every play. Just like clockwork, and it didn't start last saturday.

Did BK say, "We don't tackle in practice" during an interview? Every good defensive coach or team takes pride in tackling during the week.

so fix that and only give up 500 yards a game

Let's do that math...

That's on Brian Kelly and his DC. That is systemic. Get new defensive coaches. Across the board.

The team members have to share some responsibility on that many missed tackles. Somewhere along the line all the players that missed tackles learned how to tackle and or know how to tackle or they wouldn’t be playing for LSU. This perpetual coach blaming is getting old.

So they still had over 400 yards even if we made all of our tackles?

There was a time when our defense held the opposing team to 250 to 300 yrds total offense.

This is a case of the chicken or the egg. You said yourself, all these different guys know how to play & tackle. So why can't they do it now? Is it a case of the coaches not preparing them and/or putting them in positions to succeed? Do the players just not give AF, which again leads back to coaching? I'm not saying it's all coaching, but it's a team wide issue and that usually leads back to prep & scheme. If it was just Welch missing tackles, or Dre' blowing coverages, or Savion not keeping contain then, yes, those players need to tighten up. It seems NO ONE knows what's going most plays and as the stress builds, they crumble even more.
