You are right BB57! Coach Davis has recruited well when he had money behind him. He’s cheated everywhere he’s been and got caught at least once. He is not that great a coach if he isn’t able to buy the best, no one is.Before NIL I would have raised hell if he was hired at LSU because he probably would have put us on probation. Without more money in his pockets than the other guy he’s just a little better than average.

LSU or anyone will have to finish 2nd in the SEC to make the playoff. Have to beat Georgia Texas Bama Ole Miss. we are picked 5th at this point. Some services have Missouri ahead of us as well.

Why? Not counting Texas, the SEC would have had 4 teams in last year.

He didn't wait until "half the season was over" to bring someone in. He moved John Jancek from analysts to DL coach. Jancek had been a DC at multiple stops over a 30 year career. Was it an ideal move? No. But he could not hire anyone worth a damn literally in the middle of fall camp.
The DL sucked. But guess what? They sucked with Pete Jenkins coaching too. It wasn't simply that the back 7 of the defense was great and only being held back by the DL. The poor play of the DL was a symptom of the bigger disaster overall.
In year 1 LSU's defense carried the team in many games, giving them a chance to go 9-3 while the offense was inconsistent . The next season was an unexpected absolute disaster. No one, including you, thought the defense was going to be that bad. So what was he supposed to do? Preemptively fire the staff who helped lead LSU to much of its success in year 1? It's not like Kelly didn't do anything following last year's performance. He literally fired the entire defensive staff and ultimately hired a DL coach LSU fans were constantly drooling over.
Kelly is not above criticism. But being furious that he didn't hire a top flight DL coach after his hire (who had only been at LSU for a few months) unexpectedly had to leave the team because of serious health issues, right at the start of camp is absurd.

It's the MO of many LSU fans to stick their heads in the sand and pretend that nothing is wrong until the shite hits the fan. We are going into Year 3 and we are going to have the worst DT room I can remember. The DB room isn't much better. Kelly has had time to rectify the situation and has failed to do so. The honeymoon should be over this year.

Talent eval isn't perfect and HS kids coming in don't all dev the same. Some kids (denver harris) don't really care to get better. You can't always see that in a HS kid. So it'll take pateince. It probably wont be this year. But our young guys need to dev and they need to keep recruiting at a high level. Our defensive staff is good. Let them work.

First of all will not be on hot seat but definitely should be judged accordingly in year 3 per BK.

You can’t objectively state the defense is worse than last year with an all new staff.
LSU was right there the year before as well without the #1 offense.
