And he didn’t coach ND in a 12-team playoff system. From 2017-2021, Kelly was only 1-6 against teams that finished in the Top 5, but 5 of those losses were to Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia when ND could not compete with those schools for talent. NIL has taken depth away from the top programs and infused ND with opportunities to pursue talent they couldn’t before. He was 7-3 against other teams who finished the season ranked, which are the kinds of teams Freeman just beat.

The only thing BK didn't do was having a transfer portal to have 10 more dudes to lineup against P4 teams.

NIL has zilch to do with why ND is winning. 12th ranked class in 2021
6th in 2022 (last BK class)

Tell me about all of this talent BK never had and how MF is so much better off.

I mean, in 2021, Kelly was right where Freeman finished the 2024 regular season at #5 in the final CFP rankings. There just wasn't a 12 team playoff in existence.
