BK: 10 of 11 defensive players with most snaps will return next year

Said earlier in his press conference today in his answer to a portal question (around the 16 minute mark - LINK).
ETA - LINK to him specifically talking about the 10/11 thing (the 17:40 mark) and he even addresses the "is that a good thing" question
Assuming Andre Sam is the 1 who won't be, that would seem to imply at least Maason will be back (and Major, ha), but maybe also Wingo.
Not gonna take this too literally because I'd think Speights and Sam would be in that 11, but it's interesting to hear.

i been saying for weeks that we'd return both wingo and smith.
theyd fall 6-7 round if they came out this year

It’s 10/11 with eligibility remaining.

Why does anyone on our defense they are ready for the pros when we were God awful?

Also, he mentioned that a bowl game doesn't count against a player's redshirt. I thought that was a one time thing for last year.
Specifically mentioned Jaxon Howard when discussing that scenario and how they didn't use his 4th game until A&M, liked what they saw and that he'd also get to play in the bowl without losing the redshirt.

Is Andre Sam out of eligibility? Jordan Jefferson is out of eligibility so he’s one starter who for sure won’t be returning.

I hope so, this is like his 7th year outta HS. lol
ETA
For clarity, I'd LOVE if Sam came back. He may not be a star but he gave us some solid safety play with a couple nice big moments
More laughing at the question of is he out of eligibility. Dude graduated HS in 2017.
But hey, let's find a loophole and keep the party going. I enjoyed college too, let that man live.

Yea, because the biggest issue imo was none of these guys really played together or in this system before this season. Sure, coaching is to blame some. But another year together will do wonders
I think safety is the only position that truly lacks talent.

If the talent is the biggest issue, is this a good thing? Unless you're just counting those as depth pieces.

More experience is always a good thing. Hopefully we will be getting some actual talent in the portal too.
BK might be as stubborn as Les if he keeps House though

Linebacker was a problem, especially Speights

we need veteran dlinemen to stay. we've been underwhelming in the dline recruiting department the last two years and need another year for young guys to get some experience

How do we get Whit Weeks in the lineup?
Posted on 12/5/23 at 10:56 am to Bow dude72
Gonna have to get the BK nudes away from Speights

Even Les was not that stupid but when you owe somebody $80 Million, there is NO accountability at all.

Hoping most of them make good backups. We have to get a lot more talent in the d backfield, Dline and LB.
I think only a D coaching overhaul is going to give any player in the portal or HS confidence that we have coaches that can teach and develop them. I can't imagine anyone thinking this staff will ever put them in a scheme/position to be successful. They proved over an entire year they do not have that ability.

Which sucks, I liked him getting more PT. I think he's going to be a solid pro.

There are several guys on our defense who could walk right into the NFL and not just make a roster but play. Perkins, Wingo and Penn are three. I suspect that J Jefferson is another.
