You win, you get to faceoff in SeC championship only to gain nothing and putting nearly everything on the line. (oh you get an SEC title possibly)

You lose, you take care of business as you would need to do already and you coast to the 4 seed of college football playoffs as your resume loss is damn near superb and bunch of other fantastic wins.

We've seen this dog and pony show before.

Get hyped, ya ya ya,... the playoff win is the only win that matters when it comes to squaring off against Bama on Nov. 9th.

Might as well call the game "battle of the heisman" and be done.

Can a team forfeit? It's not a part of the regular season so...

Not if there are 3 undefeated league champs from the other Power 5 conferences.

If you think LSU gets in with a loss to bama you’re sorely mistaken. However, bama could lose and will still make it in.

That’s the realm of college football this decade

I will give you this. I love myself a good conference championship game, but the playoffs have created a situation where it sometimes is actually more advantageous to not win your division (looking at you Bama). That should never be the case.

And don't start with me about seeding. Does it really make that much of a difference to play the #4 team instead of the #2 or #3 team? It's not like being a #1 seed in the NCAA tourney.

Multiple top 10 wins.

Only loss is to 1 seed of country on the road.

There's likely going to be a log jam at the top this year.

I'll take my chances in the SECCG rather than hoping other teams lose and we get the benefit of the doubt like bama does. Which they have by virtue of winning playoff games nearly every year.

You motherfrickers begged for a playoff and this is exactly what you get. The more teams you put in the postseason, the more the regular season is neutered. And to think some people are crying for an 8 or 16 team playoff.

I was never one. I argued for not having one.

If Oklahoma, Clemson and the big ten champ are all undefeated at the end of the year, the SEC will only get 1 team.

....and that's why more than (4) teams should be in the CFP. #1 & #2 get a BYE then faces winners of 3vs6 and 4vs5.

I can't wait for Selection Sunday where it'll be like:
1. LSU 13-0
2. Clemson 13-0
3. Oklahoma 13-0
4. Alabama 11-1
5. Wisconsin 12-1 (Big 10 champion, close loss at Nebraska)

ESPN: "Here's why Alabama got into the playoff instead of Wisconsin. It doesn't matter that Wisconsin has 1 more win, better wins, and a conference championship. What's most important is that Alabama lost to the #1 team in the country and Wisconsin lost to Nebraska."

Alabama of course takes advantage of the mulligan and wins the title.

What's ironic is that Kramer created the divisions and the idea of a conference championship game out of what is essentially a loophole...

You CAN have a conf champ game if you have 12 teams AND divisions. You don't have to.

He did it to raise the perception of the SEC in comparison to Big 10 and PAC 10 to try and defeat the bias in the polls and get more championships to the SEC.

Despite many thinking it would do more harm than good, especially UF, it worked wonderfully thanks to that '92 Bama team and their very effective cheating. It was not the mine field everyone thought it would be. Kramer was right.

But now, after the polls, then BCS, and now playoff system it has been flipped back the other way. With the exception of 1 team, it is now a mine field for the SEC.

In this scenario Wisconsin would have a win @Ohio State and a win over Penn State/ Ohio State in the Big 10 championship. Both of those wins would be better than anything Bama has and no way Bama would get in over Wisconsin.

If Bama loses to LSU then wins the rest of their games their best win would be a 4 loss Auburn team.

LSU has a better chance of getting In the CFP with one loss and without going to the SEC Championship than Bama.
