Once BCS team.
Should BCS teams be the only ones eligible to win the national championship?

then that' just too bad.
And we're trying to create a fair system here, right?

I'm just going to go off of my opinion that none of the non-BCS teams who have gone undefeated in the past 10 years or so would have had a chance to win a playoff tournament. And most people would say I'm right.
Well, we'll never know, will we?

First of all, you guys who are arguing for an 8-team or more college football playoff are just not dealing with reality. So get over it.

Don't even try. They can't grasp that concept.

For real.

Money is a big incentive. So I don't believe it would take away those big out of conference games. Moreover, it would make the bowl games a little more interesting.
Yeah, I can see this. If people stop attending LSU vs. UL-Monroe, then after a few years, the AD will decide that it's time to schedule better teams.

I'm fine with that. If they aren't deserving, they will get beat in round one. If the powers had won their conference then they could play in the playoff as well.

So in other words, there would be no positives whatsoever by playing in a strong conference? It would actually benefit schools to be pussies. I can't wait for the playoff system so we can move to the Sunbelt and freaking dominate!

No. It will just be a lot harder for smaller schools like it is in every other college sport.

Do you think putting '07 Hawaii in over LSU, or putting '06 Boise State in over Florida would have been fair?

People who aren't ignorant know the answer.

Well, the guy you quoted statistics from earlier was just talking up a storm about the importance of margin of victory and how important it was to judge teams against quality opponents earlier. Well, didn't Utah beat Alabama by more than Florida did?

You're saying we couldn't dominate the Sunbelt?

As long as the games are 4 quarters long instead of 3.

Absolutely not. Now, they do have an advantage because of the level of competition they play on a regular basis. But under my system of conferene champs only, Utah would have gotten in last season, along with Oklahoma, Florida and USC. Penn St., the Big11Ten Champ, was rated lower than Utah, and Texas failed to win its conference.

About the same possibility of a mid-major reaching the final four.

Yep.

This means nothing to me. Florida would have skullfricked Utah in a national championship game. Alabama was clearly not as motiviated to play the Sugar Bowl as Utah was. Not that that is any excuse.

Impossible? "According to who?" The same standards apply to them as everyone else.

So why don't we just play the college football season and at the end, we'll ask you who the national champion should be?

Since the BCS started, five non-BCS teams have gone undefeated and none of those teams have gotten a chance. That's 100% or 0%, however you want to look at it.
