I believe the OP modified his question to include the Super Bowl era: 1966 until now

He is also a true professional and a great representative of both the Patriots and LSU.

This is an easy question. 1st, Jimmy Taylor is not really in the Super Bowl Era. He played in Super Bowl I, that's it. He is a great guy FWIW. Bert Jones was my idol as a kid. But no chance he is the best NFL tiger of the Super Bowl era. Same for Faulk, not nearly as good as Bert Jones in the pros.
The answer is Alan Faneca, 9 Pro Bowls, 6 All Pros, 3 2nd team All Pros. Mawae is 2nd. No one else is even remotely close. Both will be 1st ballot HOF.

He wasn't the best, but he was something special. Chief's safety Johnny Robinson. He was part of 58 championship team and Superbowl 4 where the Chief's routed the Vikings.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< yep, he was a great player.

I know it isn't Super bowl era, but consider the badass named Steve Van Buren.
7× All-Pro selection (1944, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950)
2× NFL champion (1948, 1949)
NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team
NFL All-Decade Team
Philadelphia Eagles #15 retired
HOF

Jimmy Taylor, pro football HOF. Yes he played in the first Super Bowl with the Packers before finishing his storied career with the Saints. Next I would say Johnny Robinson. It's a travesty that he's not in the PFHOF. He is in the AFL wing at Canton as well as a member of the HOF's team of the decade in the 60's. Won NC ring at LSU and World Championship with the Chief in SBIV. The Chiefs were 35-1-1 in games in which Robinson had at least one interception. That's a frickin insane stat. I'd rank Mawae 3rd, Faneca 4th and Bert Jones 5th.

Does the phrase, " a contradiction in terms" mean anything to you? Didn't think so.

Oh. Pete Maravich played before the NCAA allowed more than the conference champion to be invited to the tournament and before the three point shot. I guess his tenure isn't really modern basketball.

Bert Jones. Bill Belichick has said that he's never seen a better NFL QB than Bert Jones during the 1976 season.

The fact that he played in the first Super Bowl makes him a "Super Bowl era" player.

Four pages and Tory James hasn't been mentioned yet.

Sad that I have to clarify this but if you counted the two seasons that Jimmy Taylor played in the Super Bowl era, he would not be the best. FWIW I am a big Jimmy Taylor fan. He graduated from High School with my mom and uncle. Strange when people don't get that his almost totally pre the Super Bowl era.

Maybe not the greatest of all time, but I think Whitworth will get some votes as his nfl career progresses, and I also think Bradie James will be quite appreciated for a very solid career when it's all said and done. Doubt either will do anything to embarrass their teams, on or off the field.

not the best, but very good-
Dalton Hilliard, Eric Martin with the Saints. People forget how good these 2 were; I would easily take Hilliard's impact and presence over Faulk's for everything except longevity, and Eric Martin was every bit a good over several years as Bowe has been this year. Martin held his own against some really good WRs during his time.

New York Giants #14 retired
How about the fact that he threw for more yards than Bradshw and others.
When looking at the rankings in a book I have he is #22 of all time greats which include current players like Brady.
He is ahead of Len Dawson, namath and one behind Jim Kelly.
LINK
Archie is 50th on the list FWIW.
This is great and all but I go with Jimmy Taylor.
