Lot of folks forgetting Herb Tyler - won 26 games as a starter.

Ranking by time:
YA
Bert Jones
Stokley
Tyler
Rohan D
Russell
Flynn
Mett

Best I've seen is Tommy Hodson.

But strong cases can be made for Tittle and Bert Jones.

I know it's hindsight, but if ZMett wouldn't have one more year at LSU, he wins hands down.

Lee- cannot disagree - another year with Cam could have produced records - will be interesting in the upcoming mobile QB error to see how the "records" change

Phuck you man! Jerret Lee is the man. He just never got a chance. (Place Les Miles conspiracy here)

Naw, I think that Matt Flynn has my nod for best ever. Nat'l Championship to his name. I know that many will argue that a championships aren't all that matter, and use Dan Marino as their argument. That's for nerds. Championships do matter. Yes, he had a banging defense, but he led the offense as needed to win. That's the difference. All LSU QBs have a banging defense.

Bert Jones. Too bad we didn't have Cameron or even Mack Brown as OC back then.

Hard to compare. Bert Jones was never even the full time starter at LSU. Plus the 1970s were a very different era of CFB.

Just can't compare Jones to Russell or Mett. Very difficult.

I would love to be heading into the 2014 season with a young Bert Jones at the QB position.

true, it's hard, but one thing that would be interesting is to read how NFL scouts evaluated them in their respective eras and then to ask who would have been picked first if they had come out in the same years. Due to size differences, you can't really do this with linemen and some other positions but it would be interesting to see at QB when no so much has changed in terms of what you're looking for as an NFL starter.

Best LSU career is Tommy Hodson and its not close.
4 year starter. 4x 1st team all-sec
2 SEC championships
People saying JR and Flynn, etc. need to remember their bad freshman and sophmore seasons. Even Bert Jones didnt start until the end of his junior year.
