at those picking Hester, or even Dorsey. How can you pick guys who weren't even the best at their positions this decade?
Ummmm... Dorsey won just about every award a DT can win. Lavalais was also great, but Dorsey was better.
And while I don't think Hester is our best player, he did lead LSU in rushing for two straight seasons. Since the 1980s, only three LSU players have done that: Hester (2006-2007), Toe (2000-2001) and Faulk (1995-1998... yeah, that's four years).

Wow that's too damn hard. My top 3 would be Landry, Lavalais, and Addai. D. Davis, Spears, Hester, and Reed get an honorable mention.
I give the nod to Landry for best player this decade. Through and through from his freshman year to his senior year he was a stud (didn't he lead the team in tackles his freshman year?).
Addai gets the nod for best single year in 2004--time and again, Addai put the entire team (and sometimes two Gaytors) on his back and carried us into the endzone. D. Davis gets the honorable mention in this category for 2002, and Lavalais for 2003. Reed is the best receiver in LSU history, and the best player in 2001.

outside of UF, when did he do this? his 05 season was way better than his 04.

either reed or lavalais if you consider single seasons...probably dorsey or landry over their careers.

Actually, I'll go with Addai.

Why does this argument continue to come up.
People need to just face it, when discussing whatever and mainly sports here, when we talk about a decade, it's 80-89, 90-99, 2000-2009.
That's just how it goes.
We all need to just accept it...finally.

The answer is Josh Reed. He broke several SEC receiving records, and he left a year early.

Troy, and any other game we won that year.

Addai had a great 2005, too...it's just that J. Russ. was the man that year. And if by "way better" you mean only 117 more total yards and 3 more TD's on the season, well...
Wasn't much good happening with the team in 2004 except for Spears, Broussard, and Addai...Hill left a year too early, we rotated QB's too long...I still give the nod to Addai. He was a more complete back than AB.

Josh Reed....
He got Davey drafted!
No one could cover that guy when he was in college....
He beat out Fitzgerald for the Biletnikoff....
He has numbers and records that will not be broken for a long time.
This...Dorsey is the only other player that has a major national award too, although he may have only won that out of sympathy.

Lavalais and Dorsey both defined the defenses.
