Did none of yal follow LSU in 2003?

I did. I think that we are giving up less yards and points per game than that team did. That team also only played three ranked team in the regular season and we have played 6, including 2 that are still in the top 7.

The schedule is much tougher this year than it was that year.

the out of conference schedule is IMO but the in conference schedule is probably very similar.

LSU beat an outstanding UGA team twice in 2003, and a very good Ole Miss team (best in what 40 years?), plus they held in check an OU team that gets routinely bad-mouthed because they weren't as good as LSU and probably USC that year (but was good enough to look invincible for the first 12 games that year)

the jury is still out for 2011 but it is a very high compliment indeed to say that they might end up being the defensive equal or even superior to that 2003 team

Wasn't the 69 team the squad that only gave up like 37 rushing yards per game?

you pretty much sum it up in your post. 2003 played 3 teams of note while so far this year we have played 2 in the top 7 and 4 other ranked.

I loved the 03 defense but this one is better and it is pretty scary how good they will be next year.

And, we have 5 more games left. In those 5 games, we will play a top 10 Arkansas team, a top 15 Georgia (most likely), and the #2 team in the country. That makes 9 out of 15 opponents ranked at the time we played them with wins (if we win out) over what could be up to 4 of the remaining top 10 (Arky, if they win their bowl game, Oregon, Alabama, and whoever we beat in the championship game).

IF that all happens, this will have to go down as one of the greatest teams of ALL TIME.

We could be watching history, here.
